EMH at AK recently?

Someone reported on another thread that they were at AK during EMH a week or two ago and the lines to get through security were HUGE!! Has anyone else experienced this?

We were thinking of doing AK's EMH on Monday, July 12th. Should we wait until Tuesday, and just go at opening?

We were there last Sunday (non-EMH) and the crowds and lines were not bad at all. We got there about 9. We did the safari without FP - about 15 minute wait. After that, we walked some of the trails, got drinks, did the train, and basically walked in to "It's a Bug's Life". It did start getting crowded toward noon, but I thought it was fine in the morning.

Thanks, bball mom. I might skip the EMH at AK on Monday. If we don't make MK's EMH on Sunday, we may go to AK. Sunday's our first day in the parks, so I don't know how the kids will feel about skipping MK that day. I suppose we could do MK Sunday night. I've heard that Monday is not a good day for MK because everyone goes there at the beginning of their vacation. I also was thinking that Tuesday might be a better day at AK since it's the DAY AFTER their EMH.

I have read posts that the Early Morning at the AK is not worth it since so few attractions are open. Probably better off going on a "regular" day. As long as you get there (and all the parks) early you should have little waiting time.

We went to the EMH on June 14th and I won't do another one at AK. The crowds were huge. We arrived about 7:40 and there was a huge line backed up at security. The only reason it worked out okay for us being behind all those people...a CM told us to form a line on the right...it was the breakfast line so they made up merge into the other lines which were at the front. No one who moved to the right liked this since the people at the front had been there since 7 probably, but we also didn't want to go stand in the line that was beyond the security checks. We just thought it was disorganized at AK and we went to all the other ones. I will say that doing the safari early is much better than in the middle of the day. That's why we went. We walked through the trail near the safari and then we went back for breakfast at Boma.

DD and I went another day ( we arrived so that we were there at 9:00 when it opened and not any earlier...like 8:55) and we went to Dino, getting a fast pass for Bug's Life first. Rode dino and went to the first show of Lion King only 5 minutes before it started with plenty of seats. Then DD wanted to ride Dino again so we went for a fast pass for that, walked into Bug's Life and then rode Dino again. Then we walked around and relaxed and looked for our AK charm for our bracelets. DD wanted to do more at AK, but wanted a funnel cake at Epcot more. It was our last full day so we went over to Epcot. Good excuse to go back next summer too.

DS and DH do an 8:00 breakfast on a non EMH day and then go to Dino right after, Bug's Life and the Rapids.

We were earlier for all the other EMH and I guess for the EMH you have to be at the front of the pack or it isn't worth it. For us, 7:40 was way too late at AK.
