Abminer, that's a great idea about taking Bonine. I always take that when I go on cruises, even if the weather is supposed to be calm the whole time. It's like my little security blanket. I have also thought of taking Bonine for my Disney trip so I could feel much more at ease about rides.
DH loves (I mean LOVES) roller coasters, and so far (even though he is little) I can see my older son following in his footsteps. As a small child I loved all rides. However, when I was about 9 or 10, we went to Hershey Park and I had gone on many rides (including the Trailblazer roller coaster) and loved them. The last ride I went on that day was the Scrambler with my uncle, and I felt so sick and dizzy, which was when I discovered that I hate spinning rides. I also started to dislike all rides because the nausea was such a turnoff. What a shame for me though. Since my son loves all rides so far, I would like to build back up to going on rides again. Not crazy loop-de-loop ones, just normal roller coasters and stuff. I did take him on the kiddie coaster at Dutch Wonderland this past August and I was so nervous but did not show it to my son. He loved the roller coaster and even though I felt a little uneasy about it, in the longrun I was glad I went and kind of broke the ice for myself, starting out very small. No motion sickness meds were used for that trip, just mustering up the courage to go on the ride!! And I did like it and am so glad I went on. I also took him on the kiddie coaster at Coney Island this summer and he loved that too. I want to try Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at MK in July. Good larger coaster to start with? My older son should be big enough for it by July (he nearly is now), and we could do the child swap thing if DH also wants to go on. What do you think? I will also take Bonine first thing each morning!!
This thread is wonderful! I am so glad to have found everyone here. It is good to talk about phobias especially since you find out you are not alone at all and there are so many other people that have the same phobia (probably just as many out there have it, as many as those out there who do not understand it). Thanks everyone for being here and for "listening" and discussing and sharing your feelings about it too!
Take care,
Bonnie
