How far in advance can we and do we need to make a reservation? Is it worth it? Can kids go? or do we need to have them go to the kids clubs?
Also, what is MYTHOS? I have been to IOA about 6 times and have never seen it or heard of it.

You definitely need a reservation for dinner although you may be able to lunch there. We did both--we had the kids with us for lunch, but went with adult friends for dinner. I saw NO chidren at dinner although you probably could bring them. My children, who were 10 and 12 at the tme and are NOT in the least bit picky, did not like the menu. DS ended up with pizza (which was delish) and DD a salad. WARNING: This restaurant is very pricey. You may want to think twice about bringing kids (who may not really appreciate the cuisine).

We made our ressie very far in advance (6 months?) and people without one were being turned away. The place was packed.

Hope this helps! Enjoy!......

You can eat at the bar which is very roomy.

Emeril's averages 10 cancellations a night so you may want to just take a chance.

Have the Salmon pizza on Sourdough with carmalized onions, a side of mashed, and an "Emeril Sky" to drink.

Definately make a reservation if you know when you are going, even the bar fills up quickly with walk ins.

They take reservations months in advance..so just give them a call. It is much nicer sitting at a table than at the bar, although we got excellent service at the bar also.

Don't forget, if you can't get in there, his new restaurant, Tchoup Chop is open at the Royal Pacific resort...it is outstanding. Reservations seem to be filling up there quickly also.

What kind of food is served at the RP restaurant? What is the difference?
Would kids be welcome more at one than the other?

It's a gourmet oriental restaurant...less expensive than Emerils. BTW,reservation cancellation time for the restaurant, and maybe the other Emerils,is 3pm. Call then to see if anything has opened up. We had no problem getting ressies at Emerils calling the same day. Of course it was Super Bowl Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday last year we walked into a Disney character dinner without even realising people got PS months in advance. The place was half empty.

Dined here december 02. Wasn't really impressed. we made reservations 6 months in advance. Table for 2 very small, horrible location. Wait staff was efficient, but food service was very rushed. Felt like we were on a cruise, no time in between course. Wine list extensive, but expensive. I had buffalo, it was tough. DH had steak, and it was good, but not outstanding. Dropped over $200. IMHO, not worth the expense. We don't mind spending $$'s for good food/service, but this did not met our expectations. Perhaps it was an off night, or we were expecting too much from the place, but when I pay $42. for a piece of buffalo, a few small potatoes and 3-4 string beans, I guess I'm expecting the meat to melt in my mouth. Later in the week I had the same buffalo steak at Artist Point/Wilderness Lodge/WDW and it was outstanding...and only $30.

I didn't see any kids dining that evening. The place was packed and they were turning walk-ins away. The bar was totally packed. Our ressies were for 7 PM.

We've been there/done that..but won't be repeating the experience anytime soon.
