We like Emeril's TV show, and are thinking about going to his restaurant at CityWalk. Is it good (I know it is pricey). Are the portions big? Ususally at WDW we split an entree because they are so big, and that helps the $$$.

If not Emeril's, any other suggestions for CityWalk dinner? The only no-no is an out-and-out Italian restaurant, as we eat in a wonderful Italian restaurant frequently at home and want something different.

I assume that for a Saturday night ~ 6:30 we would need reservations. Thanks for any input!

disboo, you will need reservations just about anytime for dinner. When we went last, we called eight weeks in advance for an August weekend and the only table left was for a 9:30PM Sunday seating.
My wife and I loved Emeril's. The food was very good and the service the best we've had in a long time. I felt it was definitely worth the price, but I'm originally from NY, so I am used to high prices. My Kansas friends thought it was a little outrageous.

Then go and enjoy.

The food is great. Service is friendly and not snobby at all.
You will not leave hungry. If you watch Emeril on TV, you know he has a trademark of layering dishes....he builds or piles things.
I know that doesn't sound appetizing, but you know what I mean.

The presentation is wonderful, and I think you get a lot of food.
I recommend one of the signature dishes....the Texas redfish.

We are massive fans of Emeril's Orlando. We are from the UK, so have never seen the tv show, but we know that we certainly LOVE the food!!

The whole restaurant is so relaxed and the wait staff are extremely nice. The food comes in large portions and is delicious!!

Whenever we go over to FL we make sure that we always pay a visit to here, you should definitely give it a try - I think you'd love it.

Have a great vacation,
Richard.

Emerils is a must if you can fit it into your budget. If you are not a big eater than you can save a little by skipping the appetizer. The bread basket was wonderful and very filling.

My Vote Elsewhere. The food was over dressed and just to fancey for us. We are not meat and potatoes and love to try different things. But Emerils food is just to busy for us. Not to mention lunch was 85 bucks and we left hungry. I know you said no Itlalian but Mama Dellas would get my $$ gosh it's good and it's so for real. The best Ceasar salad I've ever had and I've had many. Also Mythos is good and Magaritville is a do not miss.

If you can swing it, make the ressie now. Had a wonderful meal, skip the appetizer if you must, but don't miss the banana cream pie.:smooth:

If you can't swing it, we did Latin Quarter for lunch, it was good with plenty per plate, and there's always Margaritaville for a cheeseburger.

And,,,if you don't mention Mythos here,,,MIB nines won't speak to you.

We had dinner last year at Emeril's for my birthday. The food was excellent and the BANANA CREAM PIE is the best! Emeril's is expensive, no doubt about that. If you go, be sure to have them seat you downstairs. We were seated upstairs and I would not do that again. There was no ambiance at all. We were in a rather small, dark room with one window. I didn't like it at all.

You will enjoy Emeril's if you decide to go.

I would also recommend Mythos at IOA (very nice).

Have fun!

If you want the experience of eating at Emeril's then by all means, break open your piggy bank and enjoy. I would eat there as well if i had not found MYTHOS.
Much less on the price side and the food is not as busy as Emeril's but just as good. :smooth:

Thanks for all the thoughtful answers. Just talked to my sister who we're meeting down there, and she says she's not too thrilled with the idea of going to Emeril's. The other restaurant suggestions look great, though. What about in the hotels? Any great restaurants close by?

Another vote for Mythos. It's one of the best restaurants anywhere!

I can give you some advice as to what not to do. Do not drink 3 Pacific Sunsets at the RPR pool bar and then become so enamored with Express Access that you ride MIB 5 times in a row right before you have dinner. This is what we did and DH threw up in Emeril's bathroom. We wound up having to have the food wrapped up as soon as it came out and we took it back to the hotel room. I ate it out of the aluminum container while DH threw up in our bathroom. Out of the restaurant and off of the plate I couldn't believe I paid so much for it. I had the portabello mushroom confit (I am a vegetarian) and I remember thinking I could do way better than this if I cooked it myself. I'm sure this isn't helpful, I just felt like sharing.

My vote is elsewhere!!
I am used to paying high prices since we are from Boston.
The atmosphere is terrible. If I pay a high price for small beautiful portions, I want to be in a nice romantic or quaint place. This is not Emerills, I get that warehouse feeling inside. Very loud!
The food is good, service is good also.
My vote if you're willing to shell out that kind of money is Delfino Riviera. Yes, I guess it's Italian but not traditional. In fact my DH had one of the best filets he's ever had.
Also Mythos for creative cuisine in a unusual atmosphere and an exceptional value. Service is always top notch.

if you have the $$, go to emeril's. i've never been there, but i can agree with the mythos part. my favorite dish at mythos is the balsamic chicken. YUM. :)

We just got back and did Emeril's last Tuesday. I make a reservation for DH who loves Emeril, but found that I liked the experience more than he did. Our meal, including tip, with 1 glass of wine, 1 split appetizer, a quail entree, and a beef tenderloin entree, and 2 desserts (including the banana cream pie, which was delicious, but not at all what I was expecting), came to around $130. I thought it was a worthwhile experience, but plan on trying other restuarants next trip. We loved Mythos--I had the risotta which had tuna with it--so delicious. There was no one there-the chef made 3 trips while we were there, and when we were leaving, he was standing out in front of the restaurant handing out menus, trying to entice people to come in.
