Has anyone stayed here recently? I haven't seen much info on the boards about this place. We will be staying there in December, and hoping it will be nice! Trip advisor reports have been good, but you never know.

I haven't stayed there but have stayed in the area and as far as the location goes it's great. Only about 5 - 7 min from Animal Kingdom via Sherberth Rd. and there's lots of restaurants with 2 or 3 minutes. Area is quiet and safe.
I've read lots of reviews on Emerald Island and they have been great. But since all homes are individually owned you won't know how that particular home is unless you talk to someone who has rented it previously.

scuba diving classes will now be offered once a month at the community clubhouse for ages 8 and up. The class size is limited to 6 particpants. Sign up at the clubhouse in advance to reserve a space! The class is approximtely an hour and a half and is $65.00 per person.
shuttle company Emerald Island daily at 9:00 to shuttle guests over to Magic Kingdom. The fee is $15.00 roundtrip per person and children 3 and under are free. guests to reserve their seat by contacting Cool Transporatation at 407.432.1990 by 10:00 PM the evening before. They will also taxi to local attractions at a minimal fee!

An individual came in and demonstrated so the class could all follow along to do a facial and my DM, DD and DD friend went I was at the house with the boys cleaning so fun. They came away with a neck roll, socks and soft hands, feet and glowing skin. They also sell the products. Next time I am down I want to try it. For $11.00 even if you are not crazy about it you are not robbed by any means.

Stayed here earlier this year, would be happy to go back. We rented a 4BR/3.5BA townhouse for a week. Had all the comforts of home, Internet, the works. Small pool and hot tub in the area; plus the community had a similar main pool, spa, exercise room. Did not use shuttles as we had a car. Convenient location, not far from WDW. FWIW.

Nope, ours was something else though I am sure it has a similar set-up, floor plan. Worked out well for us, sure you will enjoy it in December.

Dear Koda,

My family stayed at Mickey's Emerald Castle in the summer of 2007 and it was awful. The owner's had stayed there the 10 days before we checked in and when we arrived, the place was a pig sty and hadn't been cleaned. After trying to get hold of the property manager for over an hour, she finally found the cleaning crew that finally finished cleaning the house around 9 pm. Even after the initial cleaning, they had to come back and clean all of the carpets and spray for bugs twice over the next week. The place was filthy and not maintained. You should try to get out of your contract and find somewhere else.

We also will be staying at Emeral Island this December, but Have not reserved a place yet. I am the world's worst procrastinator! I'm hoping to find a 3 bedroom with a 'scenic' view. It would make our vacation much happier for my DH, who would rather be fishing in a creek than visiting Mickey! LOL

Not to hijack your thread, but can anyone recommend a place maybe backing up to the nature preserve part?

I have a call into our man/co because Brett also has the same. He has not always had them so I will find out exactly when he switched. I have had ours for 3 years now and have never had any problems. As soon as they get back to me I will post.

We stayed at a house 2 doors away from Mickeys Emerald Castle in www.orlando-rental-home.com, we actually went inside it for drinks as we got friendly with family staying there and it was beautiful and clean, easily as nice as the one we were staying in.
I have arrived at rental homes before that have not been cleaned and although it was not a pleasant experience these things do happen from time to time.
