I never bothered to become an Emerald member with National because of the $50 annual fee that I have seen posted on their website. Are many of you actually paying this fee on an annual basis or are you getting membership through other sources? Thanks.

Seeing that they request a credit card number for the Emerald Aisle membership - will they automatically charge you $50 for the first year and if not - do they charge you for the renewal years?

It's an interesting thing. If you join the Emerald Club directly through National, you agree to a $50 annual fee. If you join through any one of the many free membership programs that have been offered by third parties over the years, the fee is waived and continues to be waived. I joined the EC a number of years ago using the free Disney Club enrollment form. My member profile now indicates that my EC membership expires 31-DEC-2037. I have never paid an annual renewal fee and have no plans to do so in the future. Actually, I hope I'm still around and driving in 2037 (and that National is still around as well) when the membership expires. I'll be 92 years old.

Hey Ralph! We must have joined around the same time. My expiration is also Dec. 2037!!

I got a free card in 1998 and have never been charged. They have your credit card # on the app because they will charge your rental directly to that card.

Thanks for the information. Wow - Ralph you'll be 92 in 2037. I'll only be 86. May we all have expiration dates that last longer than 2037. Thanks again.

Bob,
They don't charge your card when you sign up via Turner Travel's site. Mary tells you that under the link and just guess who GH is.
:)
I have been a member since 99 and have never been charged a yearly fee.
