I've read some really good reviews of hotels near MCO and the Port (those AAA ratings mean nothing when it comes from people who have REALLY experienced the hotels and their service!). Has anyone stayed at the Embassy Suites/MCO? I think the extra room would be great but I want to make sure it's worth the extra cost.

We stayed there in May and liked it a really liked it. We found the staff to be friendly and very welcoming. Good luck and have a great cruise.

Great hotel!
I have never stayed at a bad ES.

Also stayed there in May....definitely worth it......enjoy.

Yes they have a shuttle to and from the airport. I believe they also do shuttle service to the port. Not sure of the cost.

Not to mention those made-to-order breakfasts. They are substantial enough to tide you over until the cruise lunch.

The Embassy Suites is a very nice place. The shuttle service from and to the airport was quick. Our driver was very friendly and suggested that the next time we come that we should use their shuttle to the boat. Can't remember the price he gave us, but it seems to me that it was comparable to the disney shuttle.
There is the cooked to order breakfast that comes with the room, but what we enjoyed the most was the manager's reception or whatever they called it, the arrival evening. From 5 to 7 we had all the well drinks that we could handle. :) :) :)
We thought it was well worth the cost, which is about 1/2 of what the Hyatt is. We plan on staying there before our next cruise.

Hey Bob

Thanks for the information about the Embassy Suites. We are scheduled to stay there the night before the repo cruise also. We are going to test it out the night before the Magics 10 day cruise the December. I think I will have to check out their shuttle to the port instead of a town car.

Have you been over to the repo cruise thread in the cruise meet area?

Great report on your last western cruise. We did it in 2003, but I know we didn't hit all the party places you did.

Ken

First I like to mention that whenever we travel we like to get an Embassy Suite if possible. The extra room and breakfast is great with two growing boys.

However the Embassy Suite at MCO was not, IMHO, up to par with the rest of the Embassy Suite chain.

- The front desk was not friendly.
- The breakfast was not well stocked, like juice running out and took a while to get refilled, or coffee etc..
- There was a charge for a movie, and I had to explain to them that we were at Universal Studios for dinner and almost to show them the bill to get it removed. They were not nice about it.

It maybe that I was there on a bad day or the moon was not lined up correctly with Jupiter etc... :D

Even with that one bad visit, I would still recommed Embassy Suites. Just did not want you to get the same service that I got and feel that Embassy was a bad hotel.

Thanks! That is too bad about the service. We have only stayed in 2 of these hotels and both experiences have been good (in New Orleans and San Diego).

Thank you so very much for the thumbs up on Embassy Suites. In spite of AAA's ratings, it's always better to get the information from people who REALLY know the hotels. I spoke with a gentleman at ES about the shuttle. They use a company (he didn't mention the name) that charges $30 per person round-trip from ES to the Port. It is a 40-passenger bus and not a limo service.

That isn't bad. For a family of 4, the R/T is $120 plus the tip. (I assume you tip even though it is a bus.) This is cheaper than a limo (at least $160 R/T) and the Disney bus ($49 per person). :cheer2:

Obviously this would lack amenities like the grocery stop or Disney movies & snacks, but if this is not as important, it bears looking into. I assume they take the luggage, plus they will wait for you at the port at the end of the cruise. (Hence the meaning of the phrase "round trip".)

Does all the other airport hotels have this "service"? Does anyone know?

Yes I have been to the repo thread. I finally read ALL of the postings!
We did not make it too all the places we would have like to, especially in Key West, but there's always "next time".

Also to DIN, you notice that I did not mention the desk staff. Don't know what their problem was, but they were the only bump in the road.
