We have finally booked our package. We are staying at the Embassy Suites South and the hotel provides made-to-order breakfast daily and free cocktails at the evening reception.

We went through AAA and received a cheaper rate with a one bedroom suite than getting 2 rooms at Howard Johnson.

Has anyone stayed here before? Please share your thoughts/concerns.

Happy Planning!!!

We stayed there in April and we all loved it. I can’t say enough about the free breakfast and my dad can’t say enough about the free cocktail reception. Use them both and you get more than your money’s worth.

Take an empty container and fill up your milk and juice and put it in the fridge in your suite. My dad did the same with the beers from the reception. Then when we came back from a long night at DL, my DH had a cold (and free) one waiting for him in the fridge.

The rooms are great, I’d even say plush. It’s nice to have a suite when you have a napping child and/or a night owl DH. We used the fridge and microwave lots. Sometimes I’d order room service at nap time while my DS slept and then we’d put the rest in the fridge and heat it up later that night. Saved us tons of money. Oh yeah, there’s a Bucca Di Beppo in the parking lot. The portions are huge. Take the doggie bag and eat the left overs for lunch the next day!

Housekeeping was great and provided us with whatever we needed.

There were only 2 down sides to our stay in April.

1. ART – That's the Anaheim Area Transit shuttle. It was great during spring break but during the off season, they take a break from noon to 2 pm, right when we needed to take DS back to the hotel to nap. Makes no sense to me.

2. There were only 2 working washer/dryer combos in the hotel when we were there. I think there is supposed to be more but one set was broken. It was fun trying to find a free washer and dryer on the same floor. Hopefully that's been fixed.

Anyways, we all loved it, from Papa to DS.

We would be staying there again in December if we weren’t on a “budget” trip. All 6 of us will be cramming into a 2 bedroom suite at Residence Inn GG for that trip. We’ll see how it compares to Embassy Suites.

You’ll love Embassy Suites. Have a great time!

Thanks HenDuck!!

Question for you.....what is this....."Bucca Di Beppo in the parking lot"?

Also, what is offered at the cocktail hour....drinks and snacks or just drinks? Were you able to order the breakfast and have it delivered or do you need to go to the restaurant?

I'm so excited!!

Happy Planning!!!

Bucca Di Beppo is an Italian family-style restaurant. Meaning, you get everything in large bowls and plates and share. It's definitely a unique place to eat. I've only been to the one in Seattle, but I'm sure this is similar.

The reception includes drinks of all kinds (alcoholic and non) as well as snacks like fruit, cheese, chips. They may have had other snacks too but we never had time to stop and eat much.

You can get 2 drinks per person at a time, but you can keep going back as many times as you like during the 2 hour period. And if you asked for bottled beer, they don't open the bottle so you can stock your fridge if you like. We took cokes (in cups) out with us when we headed back to the parks in the evening.

I believe the breakfast is only in the cafe in the lobby. But you can go down and load up and bring it back to your room if you want. I took extra muffins with me to DL and ate them while waiting for the Mark Twain.

(I'm sure there are more ways to take advantage of the complimentary items, but you'll figure them out).

Buca is a great Italian restaurant. It is literally in the parking lot of the hotel, a 2 minute walk. The portions are ridiculously large. Take the doggie bags back to your suite and heat them up in the micro later. You might want to bring cheap micro safe bowls for that. Good deal.

Have a good one.:teeth:

Hello all;

I was wondering if the rooms are seperate the living room and the bedroom. My family and I will be going sometime in the summer and my mom wants her own little area.

Thanks

Kay, the suite does have a separate living room and bedroom with a door separating the two. When we stayed at the hotel, we had a king suite - a king bed in the bedroom and a sofa sleeper in the living room. It worked out great as our then 5 year old felt like she had her own room!

Do you have to book a particular type of room to receive the complimentary breakfast and evening reception? Also, what can I expect to pay for this type of room?

Thanks!

Mary

All rooms (suites) come with complementary breakfast and reception.

The room rates vary, I would budget $130-ish per night to be safe. Rates can be lower, like $110, if you hit the right season. Check out the Embassy Suites website. Their internet rates are usually the best (if you're not AARP or AAA members).

www.embassysuites.com

The website is showing $116.10 per night for internet rate for 2 double beds for Dec. 8th through 15th of this year.

They are a Hilton company.

Good luck and enjoy!
