Embarrassing My Children…..Just Another Service I Provide! Update post #50!

Loving your TR! I especially am enjoying all the great pictures. As for the It's a Small World tradition...I HATED that ride as a child but it will always be a tradition for us to ride that one first because it is my dad's favourite ride. I think I rode it upwards of 10 times in one day the last time I went with him!

I am loving your TR. Having your mom there is so sweet. I can tell u treasure her as I did mine. Keep em coming.

Thank you for this trip report..

We'll be renting a scooter and I was looking all over to figure out how to handle transporting to/from the parks is we didn't want to use the bus!! WOOHOO - you had the answer!!

Looks like y'all had a WONDERFUL trip! Your Mom is darling! (girls too!!)

Enjoying your TR! I love IASW! Last trip my husband and 2 sons said "See Ya!" and off they went to some more "manly ride". Luckily my daughter was willing to go with me.

Love the trip report fellow Nova Scotian! Sounds like you had a great time...waiting for another update!

I’m back….sorry for the delay!

So, seeing as how the “she triggered an alarm; get the crazy lady out of here” police didn’t descend on me we continued our tour of Mickey’s house.

For some reason in 2007 the girls ABSOLUTLY REFUSED to ride on the Walt Disney Railroad, which I had always regretted because it’s one of those thing I can remember doing as a kid on our trip back in the “good old days”. ( The train, it’s a small world, the Swiss Family Robinson Tree house and buying a ‘shrunken’ coconut head all figure prominently in my memory …..) Maybe they thought it was a scary ride then…who knows….but with Mickey and Minnie’s houses out of the way, a ride on Goofy’s Barnstormer under their belts and a quick run through the gift shops in ToonTown, this time they were up for it. So we decided on a round trip, parked the scooter, pocketed the key and climbed aboard….

As we settle ourselves onto our bench and await the final “ALL ABOARD!” I calmly turn to my poor, unsuspecting mother and remark “Did I mention this is a roller coaster?”.

I thought the woman ahead of us was going to choke on her water and the look on mom’s face was priceless! :lmao:

Sorry….no great train pictures, or really cool shots of the construction going on for the new expansion (not that you could see much); remember , I was not in charge of the camera….even though I had told Rae to take construction pictures, she was really on the wrong side and we were past it before she realized I guess.

As we raced the Speedway, the Monorail and the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad around the park Bonnie’s infatuation with the castmembers continued…..:thumbsup2:lovestruc

We were now faced with the fact that the pretzels and trail mix snack would not sustain us for much longer, and having pointed out Splash Mountain to Bonnie on the way by, it was decided that “Grammy and the Girls” (sounds like a 50’s rock and roll band doesn’t it?) would find some snacks and I would hoof it over to Splash Mountain to grab some fast passes.

Sounds like a good plan right?

Never underestimate what I can screw up…….

I got all excited then !! It was just another teaser episode !!

I guess you have more of a life than me as I finished my trippie weeks ago girl and I had 22 days to do !! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I cant wait for more xx x x x x

Okay….this is getting ridiculous! I really need to at least get through Day One! Storm Day here so maybe I can devote some extra time….

Here’s a tip for you….if you get the same brilliant idea as me to run across the park to grab fast passes make note of the time. For example should the time be, oh say, 3:00 then you might want to remember that somewhere between you and your intended destination there just might be a parade happening or about to happen! Wish someone had told me that before I tried this ……

Another tip….if you are trying to cross the park, especially when people might be gathering for said parade you might want to perhaps….oh I don’t know….look at a map first!

I left Mom and the girls to find some snacks and started heading for Splash Mountain for the fast passes but made the mistake of heading towards the castle instead of going down by it’s a small world. As I hoofed it past Alladin’s Magic Carpet’s I realized “crap, what have I done”, especially when I finally made the turn into the Splash Mountain area only to see a sea of humanity mulling around as though we’d been without food supplies for months and the Red cross truck was pulling in! The parade thankfully hadn’t started or I would have been well and truly cut off. Encountered one of the grumpiest cast members I’ve ever seen trying to direct the refugees for directions but she was more interested in moving people along then straightening me out so I ducked under her road and headed up the hill.

Aha! A fast pass sign! I had made it! Grabbed our fast passes and ran out of there hoping to beat the parade. If you ever need to do this the path along the river between Tom Sawyers Island and Haunted Mansion is perfect for this. Not a soul along it and I can’t help but think Disney planners put it here for just this reason.

Made it back over to Fantasyland without further incident to find that grandmother and grandchildren had successfully found a snack cart….

A shot of the construction wall before they put up the magic “we grew 20 feet over night” trees to hide the cranes the following week….

I had told them they should try to ride Dumbo while I was gone but they hadn’t done it (too long a line). We never did do it this trip which kind of saddens me as I don’t think it’s going to be there when they “new and improve” it with the Fantasyland expansion.

We did manage to get on Cinderella’s Carousel with little wait time though and I think it’s probably the first time Mom’s been on one since I was little!

We weren’t lucky enough to ride on Cinderella’s favorite horse but we did spot it…..it’s the only one with a golden ribbon on it’s tail.

Okay, I’m going to try posting this now because the power has gone off here three times since I started typing and I’m getting tired of saving my work! More later hopefully!

So nice to see another fellow Nova Scotian!

Every time we go to Disney we always make it a point to get flights that go directly to the US because the US pre-clearance that the Halifax International Airport has is so convenient!

It sounds like you guys had an awesome time! I can't wait to hear more :thumbsup2
