What kind of foods will they be serving at the buffet on the Magic on embarkation day? Will it be served at Carrioca's? Will the poolside food be available at that time to?
Thanks so much.

Oh it's a four night if that matters but I'm guessing it does not.

Cariocas, Cabanas and the quick service places by the pool will all be open for lunch. I believe the food at the buffets is all pretty much the same on all ships.

Here's a list I found for the embarkation lunch on the Dream.

Salad Bar

Sushi

Mussels
Marie rose
Shrimp
Crab claws

Soups

Pork with garlic ginger sauce
Rice

Turkey wrap with chipotle
Sandwiches

Ribeye steak
Steak fries

Chicken with pico de gallo
Scolloped smashed potato with jack cheese onion

Griddled lamb chops with charmola
Buttered asparagus

Ham wrapped salmon
Grilled corn, chestnuts, bok choy, leeks and red bell pepper

Honey glazed carrots / snow peas
Grilled swordfish with an apple and lime salsa

Pennette Pasta with Provencal sauce
Macaroni mushrooms and tarragon

Chicken breast strips
Steamed veg - broccoli, carrots, cauliflower
Macaroni and cheese
Pizzas

Roasted steamship
Roast turkey

Slice bresola
Slice prosciutto
Sliced alpine ham
Blue cheese crumbles
Slice provolone cheese

Bread rolls
Baguette
Bread

Key lime pie
Coffee mascarpone roulade
Fresh fruit salad
Chocolate marquise
New York Cheesecake
Jello
Strawberry tart

Fresh whole fruit
Cookies

"Mom, is that all one meal or the whole trip?" my DD asked as I read that to my DH. :)

THANK YOU!!!

I'd say based on recent experience that the options are slightly more limited in Caricoa's than in Cabanas on embarkation day. However, there are still lots of choices and the atmosphere is much less like a zoo. More room to spread out is nice because everyone still has their carry ons and strollers and such at that point.

We do the alternate buffet or eat after the staterooms are open so Cabanas is calmer.

Yep. Cabanas is at the top of the ship, aft, on all DCL ships (think pool decks). Carioca's is the renamed version of Parrot Cay restaurant post makeover for the Magic.

I thought the Wonder still had Beach Blanket Buffet.

We always get on the ship early and Cabanas is practically empty. As a matter of fact on our last cruise, we were the only ones there for about 10 minutes.

Does anyone know if the crab claws are pre-cracked or am I going to have to work and crack them myself??

I'm curious as I would like to try them but really don't want to work hard for my food while on vacation...LOL

The Wonder didn't get anything changed...

Regarding Cabanas, the 'free flow' is a concept still not grasped by many. Bottom line, you do not stand on a line and move like on a typical buffet. You can just move to any station as you please.

The redesigned helped but since the area is still much smaller than the Dream/Fantasy, folks still tend to make a line at the entrance instead of moving to the area they want.
