Email help! Please I am desperate...

Please help me!!!!! Verizon can't help me, Microsoft can't help me and HP can't help me!!!!!! I know that a Dis'er CAN!!!
The email in my inbox is disappearing. I hit send/receive, I get my mail. As soon as I view/read the mail, it gets marked read (as it should). I close out of the windows mail (vista user) and when I log back in....NO READ MAIL. It is not in my inbox, not in my junk mail, not in my deleted items folder.....
I called Verizon, the took over my computer, he said oh it looks like a microsoft problem, called microsoft they said call HP they are the computer maufacturer they will help you.....3 hours later hp saids no they an't help. I tried to reset my settings to 2 weeks ago and it wouldn't let me. It would only let me choose a date as back as 5 days ago, and I have been having this problem for as long. Please someone help me
I have spent so much time on this today and have no where else to turn. I know only a dis'er can help me!!!!!

I am far from an expert on this but did you try looking at all your settings? I have outlook express and I found by clicking on the top row of options on the page, I found one that said you could hide read mail and then another place had mail options, where you could delete read mail. I don't know if this is helpful or not but maybe playing around with those things may help. I tried it with my computer and it hid all my read mail.

What do you use as your e-mail client?

I use Eudora and not Outlook, and have full control over everything.

I would check your settings carefully.

This won't help your immediate problem, but until you get it figured out, just forward anything you think you'll need future access to to another email account. if you don't have one, make on at yahoo or gmail. That will at least give you access to your emails until you get this fixed. Good luck!

Assuming you are using Outlook Express (if not, let us know)

Under the Tools tab (top bar), click options.

Then uncheck the Hide Email once read box.

Be sure to click apply on the bottom right of the option box.

Well that sounds applicable! and if that is the case then you should get a credit somehow for all the time spent talking to "techs" that were not at all techy.

also as a safeguard, if you are using outlook, or outlook express type program for mail check that your setting is to "leave mail on server until deleted" in the program. It may be worded differently...

Maybe you've picked-up a virus on your computer.

Look beside the word Inbox, should read (Messages) if you have it on anything else you won't see all of your messages.
