Email from Disney re: FP selection

Made my FP selections in the wee hours of this morning, then received the following email now:

We're sorry, your previously confirmed FastPass+ selection for Voyage of The Little Mermaid from 1:10 PM to 1:25 PM on 08/21/2014 is no longer available due to an unexpected change in the operating schedule.

As a replacement, you may now visit any one of the following FastPass+ experiences on 08/21/2014, anytime after 9:00 AM through end of day. (Valid Theme Park admission is required and your FastPass+ selection can only be redeemed during normal Theme Park operating hours excluding Extra Magic Hours):

Experiences*
The American Idol® Experience
Beauty and the Beast-Live on Stage
Lights, Motors, Action!® Extreme Stunt Show®
The Great Movie Ride®
Muppet*Vision 3D
Star Tours® - The Adventures Continue
Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular!
Voyage of The Little Mermaid

There is no action needed to select the experience in advance. During the designated day and time, just arrive at the FastPass+ entrance to one of the experiences above and touch your MagicBand to enter!

*Note that you may be able to still experience your selection for Voyage of The Little Mermaid if it becomes available again today, unless you opt to visit one of the other listed experiences.


So basically does this mean that I have a FP that can be used on any of the Tier 2 DHS attractions...that I can just decide on the day of?

Is this going to turn out to be a system glitch?
 
Yes, you can FP any of those anytime that day. This is the same email you would get if a ride was down during your FP+ return time.

Another poster just reported receiving this email for a VotLM FP on (I believe) 8/24/14. I wonder if the attraction is going to be going through some sort of refurbishment during that time?
 
I got the email for August 17. I'll be upset if it's closed, my DD loves Ariel!
 

I got the same email. I didn't really want the FP, but there wasn't anything else at HS I wanted. So - WooHoo!
 
It appears to just be a show timing issue. Otherwise they would not list VotLM as one of your available choices in that list.
 
Just realized it includes GMR. Is that still considered a tier 1?

Got same one for 8/17. Called Disney and they made another one for same day, same time. They said they did not see a problem on their end! :confused:

Not a timing issue at all...as noted in above post, Disney rebooked FP for the original time 11:20 am.

Why in the world would you call Disney? You get a FP+ for ANYTIME you want after 9am.... Seems to me that this email while a "glitch" is actually a benefit the receiver....

Because the list of FP's available to change to included Voyage of the Little Mermaid and I thought it was strange that it was offered since it was not available for me to FP to begin with. I was curious. I ended up keeping the guest service FP, and cancelling the "new" FP for Little Mermaid that they put back onto MDE, as they only made it for 4 and we are a party of 10. You're right, the guest services FP is more beneficial and I decided to keep it. I just found it odd that no one could tell me why the FP was cancelled or why they could make another FP for the same time that the original one was cancelled.

P.S. The guest fast pass that was given has a return time of 9-9:30. Disney said I could choose from any of the rides listed during that time frame. I'm not so sure it is good for ANYTIME after 9 am.

Maybe there was a "change" in the schedule that then was cancelled?

There might be a workflow that if Ride X hours change or Park hours change it auto-sends the emails out cancelling the FP+s. Possibly the ride hours were changed by accident or on purpose but then later altered giving you the option to actually go back to the ride during the time you had originally scheduled.

Oh, you are correct! I just looked at MDE and it is good until 9:30pm! Disney IT must have misspoke. I didn't even look back at it, until now. Anyhow, I still don't want to wait past my original booking time to use the FP, as the longer we take to use the FP's, the less chance I have of getting the 4th FP. Can't explain why the changes, but, oh well, it will work out fine, either way! :)
 
So could you reschedule your third FP+ in advance to pick a different ride (say, change Little Mermaid to Beauty and the Beast), and then still keep the extra open ended FP that they are giving you via the email (to end up having 4 FP when you enter the park)?
