If Debbi from Coral Reef says that she requested a diver for me, does that mean that it will definetely happen? The word request has me a little unsure:

A diver has been requested for you. If you would like to personalize the menus, please send a few pictures (3-6) and a special message. We will take care of the rest.

We can not promise a tank side table but we will get you as close as possible so that you are able to see your banner.

You do not have to say anything special when you check in for your reservation. Just allow the magic to happen for you.

Thank you and have a magical day!

What do you think?

I would take that to mean that there is 99% certainty that I will have a diver. I think that the wording is slightly ambiguous to allow for the very occasional time that they can't do a diver for some weird unforeseen circumstance.

Have fun and be sure to take pictures. :goodvibes

As this is a free service, it's probably wise for them not to offer guarantees. It's going to hinge on the availability of the diver.

Just out of curiousity, when is your trip? I tried to request a diver for February but the email I got back said that they were not taking diver requests for 2009 visits until December. Thanks.

No guarantees. I had it reserved when we went in Dec. 2007 and we didn't get one. The manager apologized, but there had been some sort of goof and we didn't get one. They did present DH with the personalized menu, though, which was an excellent surprise for our anniversary. The meal and service were both outstanding, too.

So how do you go about asking for the diver? I'd love to do this for my boys' b-day. Do you make the res on the phone and tell them then or is there another method? TIA!

I called Coral Reef to ask about it and was lucky enough to have Debbi answer the phone. I think she is the one who arranges the divers. She had me email her some info and I got the reply in the first post.

I'm pretty sure I called the regular dining number and they connected me to Coral Reef, it was a while ago!

Our trip is next month, our first Thanksgiving in WDW!

the same email I received from Debbie. I too was wondering if it meant it was definite or not. Well, in our case, it did work out and it was so magical. My DD loved the divers and the menus.

Enjoy!!

Oh no....how dissapointing! See thats why I'm trying to figure this out now, I don't want to get my hopes up and then be dissapointed. But I'm glad to hear your anniversary meal turned out well afterall.

Debbi sent the same wording to my DH and he told me later it worried him ... I am afraid he might have harassed her a bit to get it absolutely confirmed. ;) It all, however, went off without a hitch though our pics didn't turn out (when using flash the light bounced off the tank and they were too dark with no flash ... I'd practice a bit while waiting for the diver.)

Yay! That is exactly what I was hoping to hear! Its DD's 6th birthday and I'm hoping to make her day extra extra special.

If you get it absolutely confirmed and then the diver is sick and they aren't able to deliver, then what? They HAVE to go by the availability of the divers and I'd bet they don't have an infinite number of divers standing by.

If it's been requested, then most likely they are going to have a diver scheduled. But I'd think it's obvious that they can't absolutely guarantee anything.

Thanks for the great tip! Hopefully I'll be able to get the camera settings right.

I understand that things can go wrong or get mixed up. Nothing in life is guaranteed! I was just questioning whether or not I actually had a diver scheduled because of the wording of the email.

It means she's requested one, which means you are probably on the way to getting one.

Because this is a free service, they have to line one up, shouldn't have any problem. I've seen only one person post that they didn't get the diver after they were told one was being scheduled. But things do happen.

Yes, I am unsure DH got "absolute confirmation" so that wasn't a good choice of words but he was assured it was scheduled which, like the OP, is all he wanted to confirm. I understand your point about a guarantee and agree totally.

1) Not getting divers is a common occurrence.
2) There is no way to guarantee it.
3) Especially since it is free.
4) There are several reasons why your "requested" diver didn't show
. . . too many requests for the day
. . . diver absenteeism
. . . diver had other duties
. . . you arrived too early or too late (they have specific times to dive)
. . . the request simply fell between the cracks
