Email Elves-does Anyone Else Do This?

a few years back duing the holidays the kids were driving me nuts! "mom-he touched me", "nu-uh", "yeah-huh", "mom she keeps looking at me", "nu-uh", "yeah huh". "santa is watching" had lost it's power...i called dh up at my wit's end. a few minutes later an email to the kid's appeared in the in-box with the sender identified as "sparke and jingle-elve's at large". the email informed the kids that it was being sent by the 2 elves that santa had assigned to watch over them and report back (apparantly santa "delegates"). it went on to say how they were doing a spot check at x time and had observed the above interchange (even quoted what the kid's said). they went on to say that elves are assigned many kids to check in on and may only have a few times each holiday to "peek in" on each-so it's advisable to ALWAYS BE ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOUR.

my kids were floored (i was rolling on the floor :rotfl2: ). they did a complete turn around. there were subsequent emails that congratulated them for something nice they had done for a sibling or mom/dad, chided them for a messy room ("it could be dangerous for santa to enter, he might slip and fall")...

my kid's are a bit older now, and i suspect are begining to "wise-up" but they still ask if sparkle and jingle will be assigned to them each year.

SO ANYONE ELSE DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS WITH THEIR KIDS?

That is a great idea. That was some quick thinking for you guys to come up with that. I don't have kids, but sure will pass this along to my sister.

What a great idea!

I'm off to hotmail to set up an account for the elves :teeth:

I like this idea. Never heard of it before. I guess you could setup a hotmail etc. address and use it.

I love this!!! the old "santa is watching" doesn't work here anymore....I need to figure out how to set up another email just for this. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

My girls, especially DD1 are so close to knowing the truth. I think seeing an email from Sparkle Elf in her inbox will widen her eyes :) Technology will help MAINTAIN the magic, not rob her of it!

Also, Sparkle just sent her a nice introductory email and encouraged her to email her list directly to him. Last year she mailed a letter to Santa and WOULDN'T TELL US what it said! She wanted to know if Santa was real or not...so she wouldn't tell us what she wanted and if she didn't get it, she'd KNOW. We were mortified that we wouldn't find out in time, but we did :teeth: Thank heavens for mall Santas :) Maybe this year, finding out will be as easy as checking my email - heh :)

ps - it's very easy to set up an account at hotmail, excite, yahoo, etc. Make sure you register it under the elf's name as that's what will show up in your child's inbox.

We have an elf that lives in our walls. Her name is Alice. I'm guessing she's related to Henry, who lived in my parents' walls when we were growing up. All year long Alice will leave a little gift on the table while DD is sleeping if she's been really good. Sometimes she leaves a note saying we're going somewhere special. Sometimes she's around a lot, sometimes we only have a sighting every 2 or 3 months, it just depends. We do hear her in the walls a lot though, jumping around and acting elf-y.

LOL! I read this title as
Email Elvis-Anyone Else Still Doing This? :rotfl: :rotfl:

I thought I would be the only one!!! - I couldn't help but open the thread to find out where you would email Elivs and wonder if he could get a message to Marilyn Monroe... ;)

But the Elves idea is great--- we are going to have to use it!!

That's awesome! I wish my kids weren't too old!

I'm not too old for little presents to be left on the table for me! :rolleyes1

Every time I was seeing this thread, that is what I was reading. :confused3

Love it! :rotfl2:

Mine are still bribed with the verbal threat that Santa will gauge how much they get by how well they behave. I can talk them out of just about anything with those few words starting in about Augsut or September. :p

I read this to my DH and we both think you gave us a wonderful tool to use on our kids. At least one of them. Thanks! Great idea!!
