I made dining reservations via email, and was pretty happy with how easy it was and how quickly they replied. However, it may have been better to do it over the phone because when I asked for 5pm for Ariel's they gave me 4:20, and this is exactly 60 days before we're going, so I doubt they don't have something closer to 5pm. Also, I tried to make reservations for three different days, and they wouldn't let me book the third day because it was 61 days, not 60! i think the people on the phone may be a bit more accomidating, but at least I didn't have to wait on the phone or try to talk to someone with my 2 and 5 year old inturupting me.

I made my reservations over the phone. When I asked about Ariel's Grotto, he implied there were set times for the seatings. I was given the 4:20 option or 7pm. Don't remember if there was another time in-between.

AG has set times, because the Princesses come to each table on a certain schedule. The time you asked for was probably booked and they gave you the closest available time slot, that's standard practice.
Also, had you called you would not have been able to make reservations for the 3rd day because it was 61 days out and not 60. The reservations system is set up to only allow CM's to book 60 days, they cannot see a calender beyond that time frame so you wouldn't have been able to make a reservation via phone for the 3rd day either.

Yes this is because there is like a show where they introduce the princess etc..
they just don't mingle like at the other meals

Thanks for your comments. I emailed again asking for a later spot and got 5:40, which is a much better time for us (my kids may actually be hungry!) they were very fast at replying to my email.

Which day are you going? We have a 5:40 booking for the. 23rd Sept! Much better time than 4:20! is that a lunch or dinner time? Seems early for dinner.

We'll be there on the 24th. We went for lunch there last year and I had some sort of seafood bowl. It was delicious, but I felt strange that I was eating Ariel's friends right there in her restaurant (but I sure did like the lobster tail!)

I think the 5:40 time will work well because we can go right from dinner to holding our spot for WOC.

:rotfl:

My daughter had that Cioppino dish and loved it.

I've had the rubbed rib eye -- yummm

I'm having a hard time finding the e-mail address to do this, :surfweb: could you post it for me? I always get put on hold so what feels like FOREVER, then when the come on the phone my daughter automatically needs something at that exact moment!

Thanks

I am glad to know emailing dining reservations is easy to do! I will be doing it this way rather then waiting on the phone!

Correction: the address is dine@disneyland.com not dining

They say 60 days before, but you can do two calendar months before. For example, if you're going on Sept. 26 you email on July 26, even though it's 62 days before

If you want reservations for more than one day, you can do them separately or wait until two months before the last day. I actually emailed in the evening the night before the two month mark of my second day, and got confirmation first thing in the morning. I was able to get my reservations for day 1 and 2, but was too early for day 3, so had to email that one the next day. They are very quick about replying.

I know exactly what you mean. When I'm on hold, my kids don't realize that I'm actually on the phone and don't follow the "quiet when mommy's on the phone" rule. And Ds2 always says "my turn talk Grandma!" repeatedly while I'm on the phone, regardless of who it is!

Never tried this.

Do you just e-mail the times for each place you want and the confirmation will confirm it or adjust it to a close time?

Last I knew it was the same menu for lunch and dinner

It is the same menu for lunch and dinner. :) I love the chicken (and I do not like eating chicken with skin and bones), the tri tip is delicious as well, I also had one of the pasta dishes and it was very good.

DBF always get the Cioppino, in fact I want to try to learn how to make it just for him. :)

It's a new feature, and yes, it's that easy. You just send an email with your party size (including if you have children or not) and desired dates, times and places and they email you back with confirmation. I sent an email that said something like "party of 2 adults celebrating a birthday, Monday 7-9 12-2 time range requested". I had a response in about an hour confirming that date and time.

Yes, that's pretty much how it works. We used it for our trip and it was super easy. We were wide open so we just put down restaurant, date, meal (dinner for all of ours) and within an hour we had times and confirmation numbers. If you need a specific time, then put that down.
