Anyone else get an email about playing an online game for a chance to win a "trial membership" of up to 500 points? If one were to win this "trial", does it come with "trial" dues as well? Haven't had time to read the fine print.

I received the email. I didn't read the fine print to see the rules. As always, the winner has to pay income tax on the value of the prize so there is at least some expense associated with winning.

I played the game this morning. It is very cute! My DS got a kick out of helping me roll the dice.

The estimated retail value of the Grand Prize components ranges from USD$16,000/CAD $15,619.20 to USD$49,300/CAD$48,126.66, depending on number of Virtual Points accumulated, or otherwise eligible for, which includes (i) the estimated retail value of the accommodations that can be reserved and used by the Winner of USD$7,200/CAD$7,028.64 to USD$22,500/CAD$21,964.50; (ii) the estimated Annual Dues, (iii) the value of one (1) exchange fee of USD$95.00/CAD$92.74, and (iv) a cash prize equal to USD$5,900/CAD$5,759.58 to USD$18,000/CAD$17,571.60 to help defray payment of any taxes payable as a result of winning the Grand Prize.

Believe it or not, it's pretty standard for DVC contests to include a cash component which helps cover taxes on the prize.

You are only allowed to play 10 times so not much risk of getting hooked.

It's very fun to play. I'm hoping to reach 500 virtual points before my 10th entry!!! That darn Scar seems to beat me everytime!!!!! I would love an additional 500 points for 3 years straight!!!

It's very cute with good music and some unexpected sound effects. The only downside is that you only get to play once per day, up to 10 games total or until you've accumulated 500 virtual points, whichever comes first.

Same here. I have become addicted to the game, it was my nightly ritual to sit down and play the game, it helped me wind down before I went to bed. I miss playing it now. DH already has a plan for the points, if we win. He said that we would bank any points we get in 2013 (since we already used up our points for our June 2013 trip), so for 2014 we would use the points for a week long cruise (except he used the term " a very nice cruise" so it could be one of the longer ones he is thinking of) and then spend about a week at Disney. It is very nice to dream...kind of like winning the lottery, there is so much I can do with that money if we ever won (e.g. buying into Golden Oaks to begin with ). I've played 3 times and have 158 points so far. Looks like I'll hit 500 by the time I play 10 times.
