Elsa not at MK Today

Our friend was there and met both Elsa and Anna today
This is the problem is that there may be one room with her and one without. Now you've told some families she's not there and they clearly hear about other families meeting her. :confused3 I would expect that the FP+ people should get Elsa ( as they planned on meeting her in advance)and the people in line get the other room and inform the line goers there is a chance they won't see Elsa. So they can decide if they want to wait.

Wow, just wow. If people get too weird about this, they could just do away with the meet and greets with A&E. Not that I think that they would but some people are really being bizarre about this.

LOL.
I guess folks can just calm down and actually enjoy their fabulous vacation now. Crisis averted. :worship:

Ok, definitely not a Frozen fan are you Dan Murphy, :rotfl2:

Arrendale is Anna and Elsa's Kingdom....where Elsa is Queen. And where the cold doesn't bother her.

I'm willing to bet he does know what it is lol. The person who posted spelled it incorrectly, Arendelle. :goodvibes

Perturbed is one thing, making a stink is another. Expecting compensation yet another.

I have had FPs for rides that were not operating for whatever reason (tech issues). I just went on about my day. I don't demand recompense for rides closed for refurbs. This falls into the same category. This does not qualify as "sticking up for yourself" in my book. More "don't sweat the small stuff."

Perhaps "Elsa" had a family emergency. Maybe she got into a car accident on her way to work. Maybe she got a highly contagious roto virus. Would you rather her come to work in that state to satisfy the angry mobs?

But Anna & Elsa FP are one of the few things that cannot be rescheduled. As many others have pointed out, if a ride goes down, you are given a FP for something else or are able to use your FP outside your window when the ride comes back up.

Ludicrous, really?

I think a lot of what goes on regarding Anna and Elsa is ludicrous. But once you get up at midnight 60 days out from your trip, and are only able to book a FP for A & E the seventh day into your trip, and then you get there and Elsa is a no-show, I think NOT being perturbed would be ludicrous.

Do I think people should stomp their feet and demand monetary compensation? Of course not, but I would personally be chatting with someone about what trade-off there should be in this case if it impacted my trip.

Disappointment is a part life, sure. What about asking to be treated fairly? I wouldn't want to raise a child who didn't stick up for themselves.

I'm glad this isn't impacting me, but I think Disney is sure dropping the ball in this regard.

I don't think anyone is asking for monetary compensation. But, I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask for a FP for Elsa for a different day. After all, if it was regular FP I would just show up another day to grab one. But, FP+ advance booking makes that impossible so Disney opened this can of worms they need to have a recovery in place. :sad2: After all, if I am required to figure out what my whole family is going to feel like eating 180 days in advance and now how to book our rides around that 60 days in advance as well, then I expect Disney to hold up some part of this. I wouldn't go crazy I would just explain calmly how they can make it right. They created the problem with FP+ and ADR's with penalty fees.

ETA: The reality is they created this with all their advance planning hype. The supposed trade off for less FP'es was the being able to lock in your favorites in advance. ( I don't want to get into the argument about the 4th FP but bigger families like ours can't count on much being available. So the trade off for 3 is I can lock in my DD's A & E FP then that's what I expect.:confused3 ) And as a PP mentioned the hassle of staying up until midnight and going through several issues as their website still doesn't work correctly all the time means that people have an expectation. And yes on a ride breakdown we have been issued a FP to come back later so I would expect that for A & E. Refurb is not the same as you never book a FP + for that anyways as it's not available.
Disney wants the benefits of locking people in then they need to deal with the consequences of that brilliant decision.:scratchin

This is what makes it a problem. And Disney created it.

I don't personally give a hoot about meeting Anna and Elsa, but I understand why people who booked the Fastpasses ahead of time and were looking forward to it would be disappointment and upset. This is THE attraction at WDW right now and they should have plenty of Elsas lined up to play the roll with back up from park opening to closing.

Since when are the characters referred to as their friends. :confused3

How does this work with the multiple rooms of Fairy Tale Hall? If one Elsa is out, do they pull the other?

Because I would be pretty upset if I was randomly assigned a room in the Hall and it was the one that DIDN'T have Elsa, and another person came out of the building at pretty much the exact same time as me and DID meet her.

I mean, it's one thing if she's not there. It's another thing if she's there if you were 3rd in line, but not 4th, 5th in line, but not 6th.

Since the idea of not spoiling the magic with certain details was a thing. Friends of characters is codespeak to help with that.

I'm getting the intent but not getting the wording. Just seems confusing. Why not just call them their character name? I got to see Elsa not a friend of Elsa?? When I first read this on the Dis I thought this was referring to the Characters handler or something.

There can be many friends of a character, but there can only be one character. This makes conversations about multiple rooms and multiple locations easier to digest for the innocent. :)

Thanks for the explanation. And yes, not much of a fan. :)

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread.

I have a friend who is at WDW this week and posted a pic of her DD with Elsa today (after noon). She commented that she had a FP.

The same thing happened when we were at Disneyland over Spring Break, only (from what I heard from someone who was there) they didn't tell the guests in line, or at least not until after they had waited for several hours. The lady I spoke to said "they had an uprising."

The next day when we got in line, the CMs were making sure to tell everyone who got in line that they were only guaranteed to meet ONE sister (even though both were there that day).

This is about the only scenario that would have had me participating in an uprising! LOL. If I waited in line for two HOURS and was THEN told Elsa was "absent"??! Oh yeah, that moment wouldn't have been magical for anyone. :)

Maybe it's because I'm not obsessed with Elsa, and neither is my DD, although we do like the movie, and will try for a FP. But if Elsa or any other character were sick, I'm certain my DD would be fine. She gets that sometimes people get sick and there's nothing you can do about that. Wouldn't ruin our vacation! Honestly I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Think about all the snotty nosed, coughing, fever ridden children that parents dose with Motrin and then head to the parks and hug on all the characters.
