Elizabeth Taylor Fox documentary...why???

So.is it fair..to litmus test eBay and the 800 listings of Taylor magazines 33 sold....to 1,500 Redford listings and 353 sold/ or no purchase
Apples/oranges. Redford just passed. Taylor has been gone a while.

Such a weird thing to get worked up over. Doesn't interest you, don't watch it. There are plenty of people who know who she is, and have seen her movies, even if you haven't.

Very good 😊 😊 😊.... now that is a documentary I would watch... living in Oregon was always interested in Goering and actually cut out his rabbit cartoon characters from the Oregonian newspaper long before Bart surfaced.

if you are interested in Matt Groening and more spec. the simpsons I would highly recommend the series 'icons unearthed:the simpsons'. fascinating and well done complete overview of the simpsons' from inception to current day. every aspect of creation, production (extensive detail on all aspects), casting, impact on the animation and television industry...

'icons unearthed' is a spectacular series (the season dedicated to the lord of the rings films is amazing).

I'm still scratching my head how a self-proclaimed "student of cinema and teacher of a few films" seems oblivious to who she was.

Will there be a Taylor surge
Is it "Fair"? I mean I guess. Is it logical to use how things are selling on ebay to decide whether a documentary should be made? In my mind, absolutely not.

If you're not interested in it, don't watch it. To say it shouldn't be shown, and yes, that's how your posts are coming off, is what's very strange. Fox bought it and is showing it because they think it will make them money. That's why any business does 99% of the things it does. Maybe they're wrong.

You keep at least implying, if not directly saying, they shouldn't do this. After you get push back, now you say you just want a discussion. A discussion would have been "I see Fox is showing this Taylor documentary. Anyone interested? "

You are all missing the point.

Track 2 on Taylor Swifts new album is called Elizabeth Taylor. In it, Swift contemplates the nature of romance and fame, over an orchestral pop-influenced soundscape of piano and programmed strings.

Its obvious to me that the Fox documentary and Taylor Swifts song are all part of a paid collaboration with The Estate of Elizabeth Taylor.

So you think ET's estate paid Taylor Swift to write a song about her? Why would Taylor need to agree to that?

While I won't watch the particular show referenced because we rarely even turn on our TV, I'm alive and have seen plenty of her movies and enjoyed them. I didn't see them on the big screen simply because during the time frame you mentioned my family rarely went to the movies unless we could pile all 6 kids into the car and go to a drive in. They were too expensive for us. I loved National Velvet, Cleopatra, Giant, The Sandpiper, Lassie, Little Women, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

No, I think its the other way around. That Taylor Swift paid Elizabeth Taylors Estate to use her name and likeness.

I also think Fox paid Elizabeth Taylors Estate to use her name and likeness for the documentary.

I think it was the people in charge of marketing Elizabeth Taylors Estate who originated the campaign. I think the whole campaign is Taylor Swift and the documentary as a way of promoting Elizabeth Taylor to new audiences. I wouldn't be surprised if over the next few months, while Taylor Swifts album is being heavily promoted, that Elizabeth Taylor turns ups in other places or merchandise

It might be interesting to note for the benefit of those that are unaware. There is still a humongous number of people, apparently not of any reason to live, that are still alive and kicking. That is all.

I'm not sure Taylor would have to pay to use a name in a song, and any images of ET would belong to who created the images.

Sorry, I really think you're stretching.

BINGO!!! So the classes I attended and the homework... none of them had her contributions in the curriculum.... naturally professors like the"gotcha " mentality and show obscure films that have a high probability that you have not seen, wish to have never seen... but etched in your memory...like Eraserhead... Oscar winning movies never classroom fodder.....

....so what street do you live on in Yuma retirement neighborhoods??

I like classic movies and sometimes enjoy hearing about old Hollywood. I also don't fuss about shows I'm not interested in but just watch something else.

then it's been a very prolonged campaign b/c the new song is not the first instance of swift's use of a taylor reference-way back in 2017 her 2017 song 'ready for It?' off the 'reputation' album mentions 'he can be my jailer/burton to this taylor,' referencing taylor’s romance with actor richard burton.

so is this what they mean by 'playing the long game'?
