SeaWorld Day One

We woke up at 8am to get ready for our day. We were in the lobby dressed and ready to go by 8:45 and grabbed a quick breakfast (they had a continental breakfast that was pretty good with bagels, fruit, toast, cereal, pasteries, coffee, and juices.)

The hotel had a shuttle that would take you to SeaWorld and we met them in the lobby and were at SeaWorld less than ten minutes later.

I had so missed SeaWorld. Until I was a Sophmore in High School we had a SeaWorld about a half hour away here in Ohio. My family went several times each summer and it was one of my dad's favorite places to go. So when we decided to drive to Florida we moved SeaWorld up on our list.

We went through baggage check where the secruity gaurd kept telling everyone around us that I was a lucky girl to have a Vera Bradley bag. We got to the gate had our tickets scanned. (I bought them online from SeaWorld a few days before we left). Before getting to far in the park we went and exchanged our tickets in for our 2nd day free and were on our way.

I love the theming at the front of the park.

I then spotted my love, Shamu. I had thought I was done with characters but there he was. We got in line and after Shamu went in for a quick fish :goodvibes I got to have my pic taken with him. I gave him a huge hug and told him how much I had missed him for the past 7 years and mom took this.

waltdisneypart2112.jpg

After a wave goodbye we headed over to guest services and grabbed a map with a times guide.

We saw that there were only 2 shamu show's that day (SW was only open from 9am to 6pm) and we headed in that direction. It was 10:15 and the show was at 11:30.

We stopped at the dolphin nursery on the way there for a quick look. I was sad because none of my pics came out but the dolphins were adorable.

After the 100 mile hike over to Shamu Stadium (well not quite that far but it felt like it). We headed to Wild Artic to journey to the camp. I went on the simulator ride while mom did the non-motion one.

waltdisneypart2117.jpg

This is a great exhibit. You get to look at all the animals from both up top and down below.

The first animal we saw were the Beluga Whales. I did not realize they were so loud.

Next were the polar bears and they were both asleep. It was so difficult to take pics but this one came out okay.

waltdisneypart2118.jpg

Finally we got to the Walrus'. I love those big giant animals. One was swimming around flirting with everyone.

Of course just like Disney you get dumped out into a gift shop. We looked around (I vowed to not buy souvieners until our last day). I did buy a bottle of pepsi so I could take some tylenol and we would have a drink for the show.

We got here around 11:05

waltdisneypart2119.jpg

We got great seats and waited for the show to start. Here are a few pics I took while waiting.

Can I just say how much I loved Believe!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so well done and brought tears to my eyes. I took a few pics

After Believe we were starving so we headed back towards the other side. We first stopped at the Underwater viewing at Shamu Stadium and watched the whales for a few minutes before heading to Seafire Inn to eat.

We both had the tropical chicken stir-fry. We also bought a refillable mug since it would be cheaper to do that and buy refills for the next two days.

The food was yummy, nothing gourmet but hit the spot. I think it was around $14 for the food and $7 for the mug.

After lunch we knew we wanted to go see Clyde and Seamore so we headed over that direction. I did stop to see how much pearls were at the pearl diving shop and decided I would do it on our next day.

We then went to Pacific Point Preserve which is their seal and sea lion exhibit. It was not yet feeding time so we just watched them.

waltdisneypart2133.jpg

waltdisneypart2134.jpg

I loved this bird

waltdisneypart2136.jpg

waltdisneypart2137.jpg

I stopped and filled our mug. Originally I had wanted a Pepsi but they were out so the nice employee (named Tray, he actually flirted with me and gave me his number) gave me Sirera Mist for free instead.

It was then time to head over to the show and an employee saw us walking over there and saw my mom's cane and pointed us to the hanicapped entrance which was a better incline for her than the regular entrance.

10 minutes later they let us in and we got some nice seats in the middle.

I took a few pics waiting for the show to begin, as well as watching the mime who was hilarious.

waltdisneypart2138.jpg

waltdisneypart2139.jpg

waltdisneypart2141.jpg

Then the show began. It is all about them looking for the buried treasure on Pirate Island. I must say our audience was a dud. Everytime the trainers would try to get the audience involved only a selct few would. A few times they would exit the stage and come out only to try it again. After a bit everyone began to catch on and the show was as good as I had always remembered. Here are a few pics.

After the show we went into the Penguin Encounter to cool off for a few mintues before deciding to head to the front of the park to meet our shuttle.

As we waited for our shuttle I had a brilliant idea. I asked my mom if she would not mind if we added another day in Orlando so that we could have an off day without a park. She loved it. So once we got back to the hotel we asked if we could add another night which was no problem and then I went online and switched around the rest of our hotels which also included adding a second night in Savannah.

We rested up for ahile before heading out to find dinner.

We ended up at a Bennigan's (indepently owned) and had dinner. I had french dip with fries and mom had pot roast bites with onion rings. We both had ice tea. It was good and filled us up. I then ran next door to Walgreen's to grab an InTouch as I felt out of touch with the gossip world.

We also stopped at DTD to grab a shirt we had seen at WoD for my Aunt.

Back to the hotel we were excited to have a day off and excited as to where the day would take us.

Great updates! I'm sad the Disney part is over, but I'm enjoying reading about SeaWorld since I've never been there!

I really like hearing about Sea World. Every year we say that we're going to go and we just haven't done it so far but as I read your TR, I really want to see Sea World Orlando!

I feel so bad. I've been in lurkdome for the last few installments. But, I have been reading along, just not posting. I'm glad that you've continued on with your trip. We haven't been to Sea World in 8 or 9 years so I love seeing your pictures.

I have some very big news to share with all of you. Last Tuesday I met with my guidance counselor at school just to see what I should take next fall and if I should sign up for a few summer classes. Well after he looked through my records he saw that if I take only a few more classes I can graduate this fall!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be a memeber of the class of 2010. I am so excited. It is an associates degree from a local community college but I will finally have a college degree. I have been working at it for so long (7 years on and off) and I know my dad is smiling down on me.

So when I got home I told my mom and she has decided we need to celebrate that. Originally our plan was to go to Tybee Island for a week this fall but now that I need to really concentrate we decided to scrap that idea for.....................................................

Walt Disney World in January of 2011

I am so excited. Of course we have to take a look at finances to make sure what we want is possible (8 Nights, maybe deluxe dining, at either Pop or CBR). But it looks like it is really going to happen. I am just so excited and knew you guys would understand.

So the semester is almost over :banana: and I should have a 4.0 as long as I do not bomb any of the finals so here's hoping.

A relaxing Day, sort of

* I apoligize for no pics so I will make this short.

Originally we were supposed to go back to Sea World on this day but being tired we decided to extend our Orlando stay and have a day off.

We slept in and missed the free breakfast which was okay since we still had cereal left from earlier in the trip.

After a quick breakfast and showers we were out the door, to where else an outlet mall. What we love to shop.

We went to the really big one at the end of International Drive. The first store we hit was of course the character outlet. We found some really great deals. I got a "Nightmare Before Christmas" tee for only $5 dollars and a few more pins.
Plus a ton more I can't remember at the moment.

So we then shopped a bit more before heading to the food court for lunch. I had chinese and it was yummy while mom tried Five Guys which she loved and we now frequent the one around her a lot.

We finished up with a few more shops before heading out. The night before she had me look up where there was a Target to get a few things she needed and I found a SuperTarget not to far away. I had never been to a SuperTarget and was excited to see one. Mom got herself a few more tanks plus a pair of pants on clearance. We also got my aunt a cute Eeyore nightshirt. We also grabbed some more milk, iced tea and laundry detergent. While at Target we were discussing what to do for dinner and decided to grab stuff from their deli and just have dinner back at the hotel. We had roast beef sandwiches, pasta salad, apple slices, and iced tea.

When we returned to the hotel I had a quick nap while mom did some laundry (the had a machine on the second floor). I woke up in time for Glee! and then chatted with a few friends online before heading to bed.

Sea World Day two

Woke up bright and early and had a quick breakfast before catching the shuttle over to the park. It was really hot that day and I was so glad I had decided to finally bust out the tank tops. I did not care anymore if people stared at my flappy arms.

Our first stop was the bakery near the entrance to fill up our mug and I also got a huge rice krispie treat. We then headed towards the Pets Ahoy show and found an empty table until they started letting people in. We shared the rice crispie treat, yummy and we finally let in.

I loved the show since all the animals are rescues that Sea World adopts. I loved the pot bellied pig.

After Pets Ahoy we headed over to pick my pearl. I had wanted a pearl for so long.

Backstory: I had always begged my Dad to let me get a pearl whenever we went to Sea World but we never did. Well the last summer it was open (no one knew yet it was closing) I asked and it was too busy in the shop so he promised me that we would next time. Well the park closed and I never got my pearl. So when we talked about Sea World for this trip a pearl was a priority.

So we went into the shop and the girl explained to me how it worked. My diver went down and picked out a few clams for me to choose from. Well after I chose one my mom decided she wanted to choose as well.

With our shells in hand we went over to the shucking station and the opened our shells. I got a nice, fairly big almost pinkish pearl and my mom well she is lucky and got two small, pinkish pearls

We took them inside to have them measured and pay for them when my mom told me that she was going to turn the two into earrings to go with whatever I chose for my necklace. We have not sone it yet but will soon.

After picking my pearl we were hungry and headed to Voyagers Smokehouse for lunch. We split a chicken and ribs combo meal and filled our mug.

After lunch we went to the Shark encounter and it was really cool. The moving sidewalk takes you under a half tunnel which goes right through the tank. There are also other viewing areas.

After Sharks we headed back to the penguin encounter so I could take pics

waltdisneypart2163.jpg

waltdisneypart2164.jpg

waltdisneypart2165.jpg

waltdisneypart2168.jpg

We then headed over to Journey to Atlantis to check out the aquarium.

waltdisneypart2170.jpg

waltdisneypart2172.jpg

We then headed to the manatee area but were stopped by these guys.

waltdisneypart2175.jpg

waltdisneypart2179.jpg

I love Alligators.

We finally made it to the Manatee area. They had both above water and underwater viewing. All of the manatees are rescues that if they can be rehablitated and released they are.

waltdisneypart2180.jpg

waltdisneypart2181.jpg

waltdisneypart2188.jpg

waltdisneypart2189.jpg

waltdisneypart2190.jpg

We then stopped in the conviently placed gift shop where mom got a really cute tee and then went to stand in line for Blue Horizons the dolphin show.

We waited maybe five minutes before being let in and rested in a rare cool breeze for the show to start. I took a few pics. The show mixes birds, dolphins, arcobatics, and a false killer whale.

waltdisneypart2192.jpg

waltdisneypart2193.jpg

waltdisneypart2197.jpg

waltdisneypart2198.jpg

waltdisneypart2206.jpg

It was a beautiful show but I had wished they had used the dolphins more.

After the show we headed to dolphin cove to check out more dolphins. We did the underwater viewing first

waltdisneypart2211.jpg

waltdisneypart2212.jpg

it was way too crowded up top so we moved on to see the sting rays.

waltdisneypart2216.jpg

We then stopped off for a funnel cake

waltdisneypart2217.jpg

Looks good right? Wrong it was disgusting:sick:. It was hard and very greasy so we complained and got our money back. I was sad.

So we then headed over to see the Underwater viewing ares they had for rays by the new Manta coaster. It was neat to see them swimming above you. They almost looked like they were flying.

Another quick stop to fill our mug and we went to visit the turtles. (sorry that there are no pics. I was hot and tired). There was a nice animal educator there that talked to us and laughed when I asked her if they lived to be 150 since that is what Crush told me while I was at Epcot.

We were so tired by that point that we headed to the gate. There was another hour and a half until the shuttle was suppossed to come so we hopped in a cab which turned out to be a good thing as it started to pour. It only cost us $10 to get back.

We each took a short nap then mom headed out to get dinner from Flipper's to get pizza. (That pizza is sooooo good and if we go back in January we will venture off property for it.

After dinner we packed up our stuff and took a few loads to the car before settling in for the night.

Up Next: Ahhhh we meet again and look our hotel is right next to the mall.

Have you had the ones at Cedar Point? They are totally disgusting!! I long for one from Disney........diet or no diet! :lmao:

Not for a long time but I do remember them being very unappetizing. I miss the ones they used to have at the Stay in Bay days over the fourth of July. Last time we went there was no booth.

Awesome trip report!! You and your Mom look like so much fun!! Congratulations on the 4.0 and graduating soon!!! Awesome!

Thanks so much. My mom and I are always having fun. I feel so lucky that I have a mom who is not just a "mom" but someone I love hanging out with. I am very excited about the 4.0 as it puts me on the dean's list and got me a small scholarship for the fall.

Just wanted to say sorry that I have not updated for a whilw. We have been so busy around here. I took my mom to a Cleveland Indians game for mother's day and we get to go again this saturday. I have also been job hunting more and looking into four year schools. I have also been helping my Grandma get ready for her last Village 100 Club luncheon. They have disbanded their group (which was a woman's group in her town) and are having a large lunch so we have been making centerpieces and programs.

I hope to have an update later today, tomorrow at the latest.

Next up is Savannah, Georgia.

Let's get on the with show.......

Travel day

So we woke up that morning and each got ready for the day. We grabbed a quick breakfast and then checked out and were on the road by 10 am. We waved goodbye to Orlando and were on our way.

So we were just traveling along and both of us started to get hungry for lunch and we were about 20 minutes away from St. Augustine so we decided to stop and at......

waltdisneymom017.jpg

(You can see how hot it was).

We loved it so much when we had dinner there early on in our trip that we just needed to stop for lunch. :thumbsup2

We both had sweet teas and the ribs lucnh combo that came with corn bread and two sides.

It was just as yummy as before and we even had the same waitress. She gave us some sweet teas for the road and we were off again.

We finally reached Savannah at 4pm and checked into our hotel which was located next to the local mall. I have no idea how that happened

So we got everything loaded into the room. It was an okay hotel. I do not think I would stay there again just because the beds were not too comfortable and it was kind of far from Downtown.

We ventured over to a Golden Corral for dinner and then hit the Old Navy at the mall for a little shopping.

Another thing that bugged me about the hotel was that they advertised free internet and then did not have it available. So I ended up at a Starbucks a few blocks away to use the Wi-Fi there and check in with friends and family.

We went to bed early knowing we had a long day ahead of us......

Up Next: I really wish we had a car that doubled as a boat.
