Elisabeth Hasselbeck annoys me!

I'm a little out of the loop and just watched the clip on U-Tube today after my morning radio show was talking about it.

My take is that Rosie wanted to hear Elizabeth say that EH doesn't believe that Rosie thinks the troops are terrorists. Then Rosie wanted to know why she couldn't say that on her Fox shows instead of keeping quiet. Seems like a logical progression to me and one that I would follow for a friend.

And really does anyone believe that anyone thinks the troops are terrorists? Even the most outspoken war opponents and Bush bashers don't think that. It's pretty crappy to say that about anyone to begin with.

No offense but you must not be a regular viewer. Rosie said it - Rosie needs to explain it. Why in the world is it EH's responsibility to rescue Rosie?:confused3

Exactly! :thumbsup2

Because if my friend made a statement, even if I didn't agree with her, and then some pundit implied that my friend said something obsurd- I would defend her. Rosie never said the troops are terrorists nor does she think so. Why couldn't Elizabeth tell the pundit that Rosie doesn't think the troops are terrorists?

I think rescue is the wrong word. And Rosie never said the troops were terrorist, what she said was how do you think the Iraqi people look at us, trying to get people to realize that other people see the U.S. differently.

I did not see EH on the Fox shows, but apparently she did not correct any of their many misquotes about Rosie. Something most people would do for a friend.

I think that the people who say Rosie wimped out just want her back so they can have more reasons to dislike her. How many of us would return to a job that makes us miserable if we did not have to? I think she did the right thing, otherwise the fight would have just continued for 3 more weeks.

I have been following this thread and have commented many times. I am amazed at how many people do not realize what it is to be a true friend. Bottom line is, EH was not there for Rosie as a friend.

I actually didn't see the clip of the event that started the whole thing (Rosie insinuating that the troops were terrorists) until yesterday. All throughout that show AND the show the following day, Elisabeth tried to get Rosie to say that she wasn't talking about the troops. Elisabeth should not have to speak for Rosie, but as a friend, EH tried to get Rosie to explain herself to get her out of the isue that she created herself.

I would imagine that was the whole point of the "gift". I'm not impressed with her reaction to it, though, considering all the crap she had just finished saying about forgiveness and moving on. It made her look rather hypocritical and very insincere.

A comedian gives her a Sharpie and she can't joke about it? I didn't see it (as I only watch The View via YouTube clips when something exciting happens), but EH's reaction seems priceless to me. Just 'cause EH isn't a comedian like 1/2 of the panel, doesn't mean she can't crack a joke.

Here's the thing. I do not truly believe there was any way for EH to "stand up" for Rosie. I believe Rosie hung herself and instead of being an adult and explaining HERSELF what SHE meant, she was looking for EH to get her off the hook.
Rosie has never held back on her criticisms and if she did not mean her statement about the "terrorists", it was up to her to explalin what she did mean. In the whole tirade I was just thinking "Tell everyone what you meant and the issue will die down". But, becasue she did not is completely escalated.
Rosie can only legitimately blame Rosie.

You have it all wrong. Rosie asked EH on Monday or tues do you think I think the troops are terrorist. EH would not say yes or no...it was very weird. Then on wed Rosie asked over & over Do you think I think the troops are terrorist she would not answer until Rosie gave her no choice to say yes or no. EH was playing a game with her. I do not know why but I think I smell a Fox show in her future.

I don't even think Elizabeth was on the Foxs shows to defend her. She would not say she did not think that ON THE VIEW:scared1: I feel like EH was setting Roise up. Joy was up to something last wed & I believe the EP, not BW was part of it IMO

I don't think it would have lasted 3 more weeks if the show did not want this topic discussed. If the View really wanted this topic to be taboo for the remainder of Rosie's contract, then I'm sure that ABC and the producers of the View would have stepped in and declared it off absolutely off limits. But the show is about ratings, and ratings they got.

Whether you agree with Rosie or EH, I believe they were both being used for ratings first and foremost. I believe, on some level, that Rosie saw this ploy and opted not to continue to be used.

HASSELBECK: I don't believe that you believe troops are terrorists. I have said that before. But when you say something like 650,000 Iraqis are dead, we invaded them.
That's from the show's transcript. From what I see, Elizabeth DID tell Rosie that she didn't think Rosie thought the troops were terrorists. It took 3 attempts to complete her sentence because she kept getting interrupted (big surprise, huh? :) ) but that's exactly what she said.

Any further explanations on what Rosie says or meant need to come from Rosie. And no one else. After all, Rosie certainly wouldn't have jumped to Elizabeth's aid if the roles were reversed, would she? Heck no!!

I saw it. EH took the sharpie and pretended to draw a mustache on herself. Seems like she took the joke and made another joke out of it to me. I even chuckled when she did it!

I agree Mickeysgal. Rosie asked for a simple confirmation from Eliz. and she, as a friend, should have seen her need but chose not to. IMHO Eliz. is a shallow person and does not understand what friendship means. I don't think she is capable of going out of her comfort zone even for a friend. Maybe that will change with maturity but I doubt it.

Rosie is a strong person but has endured her share of trauma in her past. She just needed one friend to stand up for her and that one person refused to. Would it have been so hard for Eliz. to simply say, "No, Rosie, I don't believe you said our troups are terrorists." ? For whatever reason she was unwilling to speak those words. I would have assumed, had I been Rosie, that she really believed I felt the troups were terrorists. What else could she feel? All that on national TV to boot. :sad2:

Rosie did the only thing she could do to maintain herself. She has said in the past she is in counseling and even though she seems strong, probably isn't. I know I am very similar in personality to Rosie and I would have felt the very same way.

Ahh I get it now. Thanks.

Rosie was trying to point out the ridiculous Republican rhetoric by getting Elizabeth to admit that she doesn't actually believe that liberals hate America and want the terrorists to win. Elizabeth chose the rhetoric over her friendship with Rosie. Too bad for her. :( Rosie by all accounts is a true and loyal friend. I too would have a hard time working with someone who would not be able to act as a character reference for me - I think that is what Rosie expected of her friend, to stand up for her and tell people that Rosie is not some hate mongering troop hater.

Not that Rosie really needs anyone to do that for her. She's been tremendously supportive of the troops. She's only pointed out that we have been a lot more successful at killing Iraqis than we have terrorists. She's definately better off without that show. I believe she feels very deeply about the troops in Iraq, and all the people in Iraq, and for her friend to not step up to the plate for her, well, I can see how she feels betrayed.

Have you guys not read the transcript on the other thread? EH DID say that she didn't think Rosie thinks that the troops are terrorists. She DID say it!

That was from Wed. show.

Yep not only did she say it, it took her 3 tries because Rosie would not shut her big mouth.

I believe a few months ago...EH was in a MAJOR tiff over the fact that Law & Order used a similar name as hers for a dead prostitute! She called up the producer and told them that she will not feel 'comfortable" with anyone from that show on the View...yadda yadda yadda...make a BIG stink about it! Not that anyone other than EH even noticed this.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: As silly & trite as EH was...Rosie did STICK UP FOR HER!

EH is a brainless

, who is fed what to say.

In 40 years from now...people will KNOW who Rosie is/was! EH not so much, she will be the answer to a question you loose Trivial Pursuit on!!!

I just started TIVOing the show a few weeks ago...due to the furor Rosie causes on the DisBoards!:lmao: Anyhow, when I did watch the show I always noticed that Eh constantly says the words.."I was reading a article about.......(fill in any Hot Topic")" And you know darn well she didnt read crappolla!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

anyone see a double standard here. If someone calls Rosie fat, they get blasted, yet it is OK to call Elisabeth names

I think because people take it personal when you refer to someone else as fat. In that "hey I look like her" kind of way - you are in fact them saying in a round about way that they are also fat.
