Elimination of draw space in Studios

:worried: Am I the only one worried about the trend completely eliminating any draw space in the studios with the fold down beds replacing the draws under televisions? VGF and Poly Villas have NO DRAWERS. Are we suppose to live out of our suitcases? And there is no where to store suitcase if you max out the closet. I have never stayed in a hotel room that did not have drawers?!?! As a mom traveling with two boys this feels like a disorganized mess!!! Will the rehabs at BCV and BWV bring the same situation?:headache:

Never much thought about it, we don't put anything but purchase receipts and my wallet in the drawers.

:earsboy: Bill

It is harder to stay in a studio for us now that there is less storage space and we are only 2! DH used the drawer under the bed in VGF, and I used my suitcase in the area with the door to the 1 bedroom.

We were sailing when the VGF sales began. The DVC folks were so happy to say that studios would sleep 5 people. I suppose there had to be a downside to the deal!

The pull down bed / table combo under the TV bothers me a whole lot more than the disappearance of the storage space!

I guess it is me as soon as we arrive I like to unpack and get everything organized for everyone for the week which seems difficult constantly shuffling through suitcases since there will be nowhere else to store clothes

Living out of a suitcase is torture IMO. We always unpack the suitcases and store most of our clothes in drawers with only a few on hangers. And we find this trend of no drawer space to be particularly irritating. Why DVC is trying to jam 5 people into a studio is beyond me? They should have placed the murphy beds only in the 1BRs, at least the MBR would have some drawer space.

It bothers me a LOT as we use packing cubes and always just put those inside the drawers. They make unpacking and re-packing to go home so much easier than trying to put stuff on hangers (which they don't provide enough of anyway). Now that there are no drawers anywhere (or at least not ENOUGH of them) I think I am going to maybe bring one of these closet organizer shelf thingys. If I can make room for it in my Owners Locker somehow I will just leave it down there this summer when we're there...

This particular one is wider than some others so it's a nice size and it has some mesh pockets on the sides for small items - and if you use a Bed, Bath & Beyond 20% off coupon you can get it for like $12.

At least in the WLV there is a dresser in addition to the Murphy bed...why they couldn't put a fold down table attached to the wall in the three/four foot space between the sliding door and TV cabinet.

I am concerned that the table and chairs and the TV are now in the same place. I often am on my computer doing some work, and DH likes to lounge on the bed and watch TV, while I'm getting a little work done. It looks like I'll be sitting right in front of the TV now if I want to have my computer on the table.

DH and I always completely unpack so the lack of drawers is unacceptable. I don't live out of a suitcase at home and do not want to do so in my "home away from home".

And the camper-style fold down table is also unacceptable. This is not the DVC I bought.

I agree with both of these thoughts. It's fine if they want to continue making it 5 in a studio in the new resorts because people will at least know what they are getting when buying but I don't like the changes that adding 5 to the studios brings to the older resorts that were a particular set up when we bought at them. :sad2: The only plus is that we do like the 1BR's but there are studio stays now and then and they are far less appealing without storage drawers and with a fold down table right in front of the TV. AKV and BLT are the two resorts we seem most likely to stay in studios and I'm suddenly thankful that the BLT design got so much of the space in the kitchen and bathroom - it just has to be very unlikely they will cram in a murphy bed there. :scared1:

This reminds me that I've been meaning to express my "member request" to DVC to stop this trend while it can at least be heard before they get to more than VWL, BCV and BWV.

We think alike I also use packing cubes and am planning to bring closet organizers the help with the lack of drawers as well as extra hangers;)

I do hope all members disliking that table/bed arrangement are also sending the message back to DVC and not just here.

Last week I got an email signed by Ken Potrock as being "randomly selected" to take a survey about my DVC Membership. It only covered 2 main points, overall satisfaction of my membership and the new Membership Magic. Needless to say I ranked them pretty low. I was also able to provide details of why I gave my ratings.

I hope more members are giving DVC feedback on their satisfaction of the actual product we bought and not just whine over perks.
