Jingle has been with us for two years and after she "left" last Christmas I put her somewhere safe for this year. The only problem is, I can't remember where I put her!

The kids are already talking about her return, so I think I will be buying a new one. Is there anywhere that sells just the elf without the book. I need the original doll, not the plush.

Thanks for your help!

Haha - I almost had this problem myself! Thankfully I remembered I put him in hiding along with the Santa paper.

Anyway - I think I saw just the elf at Target (I know I saw the skirt there). You can also check on Amazon, I know they did have them.

Jingle is not lost he is still visiting santa ;) I did see them also at Target but hopefully he appears you guys had alot of fun last year.

If you go to the elf on the shelf website I think you can order just the elf from there.

The exact same thing happened to us last year......and we still haven't found him!

DH ended up getting another one at Barnes and Noble.....

We had the exact opposite problem this year! My DS(10) found "Lucky" the elf this past summer while he was snooping around. We thought we had it well hidden in a closet under some bedding....

SO, my hubby and I hear my son one night screaming "It's LUCKY, It's LUCKY...you guys have been LYING to us"....and arrives holding the elf in his palm. I didn't know what to do...& hubby was speechless. I quickly said "There's that fake elf! We've been looking for him for years! Your auntie bought it long ago, but didn't realize it was not the real kind!!!". I had to call her to give her the heads-up afterwards ;) Since he has been holding our elf hostage since the summer, we had to go out last week and purchase another whole set (w/ book), just to convince him that he had NOT found Lucky!

However, the real Lucky arrived yesterday and it looks like $$ well spent as we seem to have bought another year of magic! :yay:

I also saw just the elf at Target. Hopefully you'll find Jingle soon. :thumbsup2

Not to hijack your thread about Jingle but I do have a question about the "Elf on the Shelf." We don't have an elf yet, but I want to start this tradition this year. How do I go about starting it. I haven't purchased the elf or book yet but was looking at them this year at Target (that's when I saw just the elf for purchase) and I know my boys would love this. I just don't know how to introduce the elf to our family. Does it just magically appear? How about the book? When do I read it? How does the elf get its name?

I want to buy this this week so we can start it by next weekend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I saw a huge display of elf on the shelf things at Barnes and noble if you need a new friend :)

We went out to swimming lessons as usual one Sunday morning. DH piled all the DD's into the van, and I came out last and locked the door. I also dropped a wrapped package at the door out of sight, that was addressed to the DD's (my friend wrote their names, so they would not recognize our writing). We stayed out and did groceries and errands, and then returned home. As DH and I started to unload the van, the girls ran to the door as usual, where they discovered the package addressed to them. It was so awesome, they unwrapped the elf with the book, and it all began.:goodvibes

In fact my DD6 just slept walked down here to look at the elf in his spot, and to see if he had moved yet!:)

I sm do glad i am not the only one who has had their elf go MIA. I have been searching for 2 weeks for Jingle and i just have no idea where she can be!

I saw the Elf at Target, but it was the plush one. Do they have the original one too (like the one who comes with the book)?

Disny_luvr, there is a website, i think gives the website in the book, or somewhere on box, that you can go to and officially name your Elf, it is very cute.

LOL. I just went through this. Luckily he was buried in some of the Cmas decorations, BUT, I ordered a cute, plush girl elf from Amazon anyway. Last year was the first year we had "Sam", but the little guy creeps me out frankly. Girly elf (I think I'm going to name her Peppermint) is going to arrive on Dec 1, under DD's tree in her room, with an advent calendar and a note from Sam saying that he had to go be with some other kid this year and that he's sending Peppermint to watch over DD this year.

Better than your dog getting a hold of "Buddy" and ripping his head off after repeatedly telling DS you can't touch him or he'll lose his magic. I'm so glad we found him first and glued him backed together. He looks a little wonky still.

Our elf appeared in the mail from the North Pole. The kids were excited. We opened the book and read it first, gave him a name so he would "come to life" and waited to see where he would show up the next day. I had to use tongs to pull him out of the box since the book said he would lose his magic if you touched him. It's fun. Hard work for parents (at least for me to remember to move him)! But so worth it!

Lol, that is something that my puppy would do..luckily Jingle gets up to her mischief well out of his reach!

Our Jingle is MIA too! It must be the name! LOL. I ended up buying a girl one (not Elf on the Shelf) from Hobby Lobby for $4 and a boy elf at Family Dollar for $4. They are so much cuter than the originals IMHO. They arrived Friday with a note saying that Jingle got promoted and can't come to stay this year. Hopefully, he'll turn up and arrive for a "reunion" sometime during the season.

Ooh. That's a good plan. A promotion. We got a new, cuter girl elf too.
