Small detail - how are the elevators? Only the midship elevator an open/window elevator? Aft & forward closed in?
(Im planning on taking the aft stairs most of the time)

I can't remember if they were closed in or not..most of the timethey are so crowded you are lucky if you can squeze in the corner nevermind see if there are windows LOL......seriously, if you are not elderly or have little kids take the stairs, the elevators are usually packed with strollers!

Good morning imgoingtodisney.

how are the elevators?

As far as elevators go, they're fine.

Only the midship elevator an open/window elevator?

They're not really "open." A full bowed window.

Aft & forward closed in?

Yes.

It's ironic how you can return from a cruise, take the elevators several times a day and forget their design. It's like trying to remember which color of a traffic light is on the top and which is on the bottom...

Actually, the midship elevators only offer a view part way up....once you get to about deck 7 or so all you'll see is a black wall.

Take them once to say you did it, but the stairs are MUCH, MUCH, MUCH quicker!!! (and it counteracts the calories from dinner!)

In all likelyhood unless you are against the window part all you would see is peoples heads, take the stairs, it will help you burn off dessert, usually is faster, and you get a better view!

After 8 DCL cruises I never really noticed how small the elevators were until last month when I cruised with my aunt and had to push her in a wheelchair. You can just barely fit 2 people and the wheelchair in the elevator. And, trying to turn around in the elevator was quite a trick. After the first day though, I became a pro.....could turn that thing on a dime!!!

I agree with the stairs, even me with bad knees and my DW just having hip replacement surgery this past February we took the stairs as much as possible, we always seem to beat those taking the elevators. Of course, going down the stairs was easier than going up the stairs.::yes::

YEA! We just got back and it is WAAY faster to take the stairs.... even from deck 1 to deck 10 you can beat the elevators any day... plus some little kids find it funny to press every button and then get out and let some poor unknowing people get in and stop on every floor!!!! Anyways.... their right about the midship elevators having a rounded glass window and once you get to deck 10, you are looking at the black curtain of the sports brodcasting area. And the Aft & Forward elevators are just regular.... wish all of them had AC though! WHOOOO it can get hot and smelly in 'em sometimes!

I never found the elevators to be crowded, except when coming back onboard after a port. We usually took the stairs though. The center ones had the open area, and I thought I remembered a painted area above, not a black wall...painted like characters or scenes??? I've been in so darn many hotels in the last 6 months though, I could have the art thing in the wrong location. The other elevators were just regular ones...but always spotless and polished.
