Has anyone had a stateroom that was near the elevators ? We have just been assigned stateroom 6562 for a Sept 2004 cruise and it is quite near the elevators and I am worried that it might be too noisy being near them ? Should I request a different stateroom ? Thanks.

We were right next to the elevators on deck 2 and it was quiet. Their is no noise that I heard from the elevators and we only had "people" noise one night when some teenagers were playing outside our door. We asked them nicely to leave and they did with no problem.

We were in 8032, about as close as you can get to the elevators, and never heard them.

We were also close the the elevators and never heard anything at all. Rm # 6528 & 6530

We were in 5622, first room past the aft elevators. I would not have known they were there if I had not known they were there!

Don't worry about that or hallway noise. The configuration of the rooms - plus the very heavy doors - prevents you from hearing much of anything once you are in the room.

mcnuss -
5622 - EXCUSE ME?! That's MY room! You stayed in MY room!!!!!!
(Aren't I getting a bit possessive!!!!!!) My next 3 cruises only have me in MY room once - and believe me, I'm "mourning" that!!!

I think that's the best room on the ship!!!!! No neighbor on the left and close enough to the stairs and elevator for comfort!!!!!
Hope you enjoyed it as much as we have - it's the best!!!!!
And it's QUIET!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy trails!

We've been near the elevators a few times and have never noticed any excessive noise. And believe me, I am VERY fussy about hallway noise so I would definitely have noticed if there was any!
And I have to put in a good word for 5622 also. We were in there on our Eastern on the Magic, and we loved watching the pilot jump onto the pilot boat from the little door that is just a few decks down and right below that stateroom. It was like a show every time we left port!

Thanks everyone - my mind has now has now been put to rest. I think I was more concerned about "hallway noise" being so close to the elevators, than the actual elevators themselves.

Kanga - all you have to worry about are us DIScruising nuts that get possessive about our staterooms!!!!!! (All in good, clean fun!)

Enjoy your cruise!!!!

Rae, Barb -- we loved that room too, and if we ever cruise DCL again, we would try to get it. It had to have been the best location on the ship. We never once used the aft elevators; it was way too easy just to run up & down the stairs.

Kanga - the reason you hear very little from the hallway is that the bathrooms and closet are just as you come through your stateroom door, there is a hallway of sorts before you get to the part of the room with the bed & sofa. It is a very effective way to keep you from hearing any noise.
