anyone know if I will need to worry about running into the electronic payment only toll plazas between MCO and the Animal Kingdom Lodge?

thanks!

All toll plazas between Orlando Airport and WDW (actually all Florida toll plazas north of greater Miami) currently allow cash payment.

In some cases the cash lanes are off to the right down what looks like an exit ramp. Watch the signs.

Looks like you are renting so I'll caution that there is VERY important note here ... especially when combined with information on the Sunpass web site wrt using an electronic lane by accident IF not activating the pass FOR SOME RENTAL COMPANIES:

If not enrolled at time of reservation or at the rental counter, and user incurred toll charges by utilizing a dedicated or express lane, a $25.00 administrative fee + toll is assessed for each infraction. These fees and tolls are charged separately after the completion of the rental.

See https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar for a comparison of fees and penalties of various rental companies which range from $6 per rental period to $36 a week or the penalty noted above . . . differnet companies handle this different so read up for YOUR choice

If you choose to pay cash KEEP TO THE RIGHT on SR 528 and SR-417 :thumbsup2

As far as the e-tolls go, with National it's $2 per day (max of $6) that an e-toll lane is used plus the tolls. No action is needed to sign up when renting. My understanding is that Alamo and Enterprise are the same way at MCO since they are owned by the same company. Other rental companies have some pretty high fees if you don't sign up when you pick the car up.

Does anyone know if there are tolls between MCO and Daytona beach?
Should I have change ready?

Thanks
Donna

Yes. There will be tolls on 528, which you need to use to get to either I-4 or I-95 (I recommend 528 to I-4)

Thanks! How much are the tolls? We will be traveling late at night, will there be an automatic or human toll collector?

Only a few dollars, and if you take 528 to I4, there will be humans.

And always ask for and save your toll receipt. My BIL whished he had. :sad2:

I am not quite sure if I should make a blanket statement for everywhere in the world, "Use the manual lanes to pay cash and always get a receipt," after reading a few reports on another (non-Disney) web site regarding toll disputes.

TOLL 618 (Leroy Selmon Crosstown Expressway) in Tampa is transponder only or toll-by-plate.

But you're otherwise correct. As such, all toll roads around Orlando accept cash payments.

Will we see electronic tolls on our way from WDW to Sarasota or St Pete?

I will be renting a car and driving from MCO to Tampa for a few days before our trip to WDW.

Based on your comment "Tampa is transponder only or toll-by-plate" should I rent a transponder from the rental car company?

Thanks!
