Is the Electrical Parade at DCA still going or has it been replaced by WOC? :(

Well, I would not say it has been replaced by WoC, but it is not running at DCA anymore. DEP packed up and moved to WDW this summer. An announcement came out today saying it would be staying there for a while.

Disney's Electrical Parade has been relocated to Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort, where it is on an open-ended engagement until further notice.

Boo. That was a great parade. I thought there already was an electrical parade at MK - I recall seeing it in January of 2009. It was different (and scarier) than the one at DCA. Do they only have it going at one park at a time? I can't recall when it first appeared at DCA, but I know we saw it in August of 2009.

DEP only runs in only place at one time.

I think the other parade you are referring to is SpectroMagic. It has floats with lights and such, but it's not our beloved DEP.

Correct, the MK does have it's own light parade, but it's definitely not the EP! SpectroMagic it's called and has been running there since the early '90's. This summer, in response the success of Summer Nightastic at DL last year, WDW has had its' own version of the summer festivities. And yes, DEP was shipped out to FL for that promo. It was originally supposed to run through 8/14 when the rest of the Summer Nightastic! stuff ends - but the DEP's run has now been extended to an open-ended run. But even with WOC's construction having ended, since the new Little Mermaid construction continues, and the new Red Car construction still over in the Backlot soon to head out into the central sunshine plaza area - there's really no room for a big beautiful parade like DEP at DCA, now is there?

A question I always had - why didn't they move it over to DL while DCA is undergoing the construction????

DL had two nighttime shows. So does the MK wether is was Spectro or MSELP.

While MK borrowed MSELP this summer to make thier Nightastic special, thier Spectro parade was getting an update.

MSELP is reported to be back in DCA for Christmas at the least.

It was just announced today that its in WDW indefinitely...

maybe they'll ship Spectro to Disneyland? !!!

They really need to do this! Even though it's not MSEP, it's such a cool show to watch. How come they get two electrical parades and we get zero? Celebrate! is nooooooooo comparison to either. I don't wait for parades, but I'll wait for MSEP and SpectroMagic.

So bummed that DEP is staying at WDW.... That's our parade!!!! Give it back and stick it on Main St.... It's been a while since we seen the MSEP!

Disney didn't use the word indefinitely.

"By popular demand, the parade at Magic Kingdom Park will continue an open-ended run when “Summer Nightastic!” ends on August 14."

"Of course, new elements of Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” will continue during the encore phase of the run. Those include:"

I sure hope it comes back to DL!!! I love that parade!!!!!!!!

Think "open-ended" and "indefinately" mean the same thing: not returning to DLR for now. Sadly.

..yeaah... EP is not coming back..it's ok don't cry! we have WOC now!

From the Disney Parks Blog ... gotta love how they spin it - after the "good" news of the EP extension in WDW ... DCA will be getting a "new" show ... which really just sounds like HSM revamped with a couple of Camp Rock songs  And you get to see this new show in Florida too, so it's not exclusive or anything...

Earlier today we announced the extension of Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World, and if that’s not enough good news for a Thursday, there’s also a fresh, new show coming to the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort this Fall.

A live, rock-concert style show will blast popular music from a variety of Disney Channel hits, including the “High School Musical” series, “Camp Rock” and “StarStruck.” The show, which has yet to be officially named, will follow a format that is similar to “High School Musical 3: Senior Year – Right Here! Right Now!” The new show is scheduled to debut at Disney California Adventure park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on October 22.

In order to make way for this exciting addition, the Wildcats from High School Musical will cheer in their last performance of “High School Musical 3: Senior Year – Right Here! Right Now!” at Disney California Adventure park on October 17 and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on October 2. Don’t miss your last chance to sing, dance and cheer with the Wildcats before school’s back in session, but rest assured the Wildcats will be back in a new way on October 22.

You may of read this already.

"The Electrical Parade is slated to be shipped back to Anaheim this Christmas, once the sun sets early enough that DCA can pull off multiple World of Color shows and a night parade to try and balance out the maddening crowds that pack into Disneyland for the Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe In Holiday Magic fireworks show. But after the Christmas run of the Electrical Parade, the parade route through the DCA Sun Plaza will go into heavy construction mode as part of the switch to the newly expanded DCA parade route that starts near Tower of Terror and ends near the Silly Symphony Swings."
