I don't see it on the schedule for this weekend. Is it going on this weekend?

No the DEP is only run seasonally. It goes dark after Labor Day and won't return until peak Christmas time (Dec. 18th).

figured it was something like that. Bummer. I have seen it but I have a first timer who has only been to DisneyWorld going with me this weekend. Was hoping he could see it. Oh well...he'll just have to make a return trip.

So is the the parade exactly as I saw it on its tour of WDW a few years back? I've actually never seen it at DLR.

Which brings me to another question, how did SpectroMagic work at DLR? Did people like it?

Never been to WDW, but I can tell you that the DEP was revamped earlier this year and was reintroduced with Tinkerbell replacing the Blue Fairy as the lead float and Pinocchio float making a return.

I don't think SpectroMagic ever came to DLR??? Not in my recollection anyway.

Cool! I'm glad I'll be seeing something new then!

Really? I thought that ELP and Spectro switched for a year? Maybe I'm wrong about the spectro but I know that ELP came to WDW.

No, no switching between Spectro and the ELP. I did hear a rumor that the ELP would go over to Disneyland from DCA but that appears to be a rumor only that never came about.

So if memory serves, here is a bit of history on this parade. The Main Street Electrical Parade started in Disneyland in the early 70's until the around 1996 and then was replaced by a different electrial show that was a bomb. It then got a refurb, and was moved to the MK in WDW for a time to replace Spectro. I think that lasted about two years, then they discontinued it in WDW, brought Spectro back and moved the MSE back to DL where it moved over to DCA and had to be renamed since it no longer went up and down Main Street.

Now somebody correct me if I am wrong on all of that!

But in short, at one time the Electrical Parade was at WDW but has been back at DLR since around 2001 I think.

Sadly it runs only in peak seasons at DCA now, major bummer since its my favorite. I like it way better than Spectro at WDW (which I love just not as much lol).

That rumor is still very much going strong. Al Lutz over at MA says that the DEP is coming back to Main Street USA in 2010 as part of the 55th Anniversary celebration.

Ok yeah, I was sure that it was in WDW. At least that was confirmed, and thank you!

It's sad Spectro never took its place at DLR......Spectro is my favorite!

See I would love that! Although the big wide walkways at DCA are so much less of a hassle for parade viewing. I just think it would be cool to see the original at the original park!

I need to get back to reading Al Lutz's articles again!

FWIW I like both Spectro and EP and happen to like Spectro better. :cool2:

I would like to see EP back at DL though next year as Al Lutz has been saying.

Just a comment for clarification. :teacher: The parade is properly called the Electrical Parade - not Electric Light Parade nor ELP. When it was at DL for many years it was known as Main Street Electrical Parade or MSEP. When it started at DCA it was redubbed Disney's Electrical Parade or DEP. :)

Does anyone know if the ELP will be running in March?

I don't know about March 2010, but the Electrical Parade (DEP) has sometimes been shown nightly during Spring Break (2 weeks) and on weekends in the spring.

The DEP ran on a couple of weekends in March 2007:

HTH :earsboy:

Bummer - Sounds like it won't be going on during our stay the week of Thanksgiving (well technically we leave Disney the Wednesday before Thanksgiving). I would have thought for sure they would run it during a busier time of year.

Are you serious, not till Dec 18th - AAARRRGHHH!!!

I LOVE :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc Spectro in WDW and have fond memories of DEP back in 1999 - just don't remember it as well as I wasn't in to my manic Disney phase yet:lmao:. I was so looking forward to seeing it again, esp if it is better than spectro as spectro brings tears to my eyes just hearing the music, let alone seeing the floats.

Fingers crossed that they start it a bit earlier and we see it on our mid december trip 9-16th. Please, pretty please!!!

Yep, the Electrical Parade was definitely at WDW! I remember seeing it there when I was a kid.

I think the parade influenced my christmas tree lighting technique. My tree has to twinkle and have about 2000 lights!!! :rolleyes1

Trivia for all y'all EP lovers: the parade music is based on Perrey-Kingsley's 1966 composition Baroque Hoedown. And even more fun...you can hear other Perrey-Kingsley compositions in the gift shop at Space Mountain's exit! :)

We saw it when we were at DLR in 2004 - we were there the week of Dec. 8th - this was awhile ago but we definately remember it as this was our 1st and only trip to DLR.
