We are planning to go to DCA the first Friday of December so as too see the light parade. How busy should it be in the park that day??? How soon should we get our seats for the parade and where are the best viewing area??

It shouldn't be too busy. The central hub area where the parade starts is the most congested but if you get there early you can grab a seats at tables right outside Brr-bank Ice Cream and you would get a good view.. If you go further along the route it is less congested and there are plenty of viewing areas. Try and get close the action as sometimes the floats interact with the kids in the crowd. :)

Bob, I have seen the parade at least 10 times this year and never had a viewing problem. If getting a clear view is your objective, you will be able to find spots along the parade route up until parade time. If you want a bench/front row seat 1/2 hour should do very well (if the park is congested in general - this may not hold true). It is pretty fun if you are in front as the smaller electrical critters mosey right up to you.

Thanks for the help. But where is the best place to be to get a great view of the parade??? I havent seen it in years and am looking forward to seeing it.

Really, all places are great. My favorite is around the Golden Dreams theatre over in Paradise Pier. The reason I say this is because of the lighting from the Pier. The floats will the back ground of the Ferris Wheel and California Screamin' is priceless. The Hollywood Studios back drop is excellent too. But really, there isn't a bad view in DCA for the parade.

Thanks for the info, most appreciated!!

That's pretty close to where we watched it, and I agree. :)

I too agree we enjoy sitting near the Golden Dreams show closer to the pier it's usually less crowded over there than by the Hollywood area. And you can usually get a spot right up front.
My son (2.5) was SCARED TO DEATH the last time we watched it. He never had been afraid of it before - you know how kids go through phases on that stuff. Well when those bugs and other smaller floats came up to us he totally freaked and we could not get him to calm down and enjoy the parade - he was totally traumatized.

So maybe being up close isn't always the best! LOL! ;)

I guess now i know where i will see the parade!!!

My vote is to see it by the winery, no specific reason.;)
