A friend of mine is wheelchair bound and is wondering about places to charge her wheelchair in DL or DCA. Are there locations, in the park, that she can sit and charge? She cannot get out of the chair for charging for the most part, so she'd have to sit there for however long it takes and she'd like to be able to people watch.

On the DW board, apparently there are lots of outlets, so I'd assume that is true here in CA. Is that true.

Thanks!
Jill

In our experience, there aren't. There are usually outlets in the bathrooms and there is at least one live one in a planter along the Rivers of America (a kind CM found it for us when I was pushing DH in his ECV w/ a dead battery). But, most outlets we encountered didn't have electricity going to them.

We had the same experience. As a matter of fact, it used to be that you could charge at restaurants YEARS ago, but on the last few visits, we've been told no.

I would suggest trying first aid and the baby center.

I didn't try the baby center, but was able to charge at the first aid station. Otherwise, we seemed to be out of luck.

If your friend's chair won't make it a full day, I'd suggest taking a mid day break and charging at the hotel.

Actually, there are quite a few, if you look. On Main St by the side door into the store, there is an outlet. By the lockers on Main St. In the exit from Space Mountain by the Cast Member exit. Downstairs by Hungry Bear by the phones. On the BTM trail by the exit to BTMRR (where you can watch the river) in the planted area. All over NOS (tho some are not on during the day.) I have never had an issue finding one. And there is always the first aide station.

Who told you no? I would certainly complain to guest services if a restaurant begrudged us a little electricity! When we were at DLR in April DH needed an emergency charge at DTD, and Jazz Kitchen was very accommodating. It was an unusual request and the hostess had to search for an outlet, but we plugged in both our ECV's for over an hour while we had a leisurely lunch. Gotta love their chocolate bread pudding. But I digress.

We've also recharged outside Rain Forest Cafe, and the outlet across from the Ghiardelli soda fountain in DCA.
