Is this available for anyone to view?

We have dinner reservations at CG at 6:20. Assuming we get out at 8:30ish, I was hoping to see Wishes from the Contemporary, and then watch the Water Pageant. Is there a viewing area that as non-Contemp. resorts guests we can view the pageant? If so, what is the best viewing area. If not, where should we try and see both from? Also, is the pageant worth it?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Anyone can see it. Its just a very short (5-7 minutes) "show" that takes place ON the lagoon.

You can see it if you can see the lagoon, so just ask the front desk when and where.

Be aware that (even though I ALWAYS see it and enjoy it) it is a very old and low-tech show.
Consider that it is made up of the kind of flashing light Christmas yard displays that you can buy at Sears or Wal-Mart, mounted on a string of barges and towed slowly in-place on the water, accompanied by an electric keyboard music track.

I say that so you won't expect too much, but just enjoy it as a small part of "Disney history."

We stay at the CR and watch the Electric Water Parade from either our garden room or the beach near the pier for the water taxi. Check the times though. I seem to recall it passing by there late like around 10.

I completely agree and I think it is cute but not a big deal.

And I agree that at the CR it comes around 10 PM. Anyhow, all you have to do is walk through the CR lobby to the back doors. They lead out to the pool area and you can walk to the North and South Wing from there or head right to the little beach and watch. But as already stated, it's cute if you happen to see it, but I wouldn't make any extra effort.

There are 2 different barges. One has a dragon and one has different things, like a flag and such. I remember I kept missing the dragon one and my kids kept telling me about the dragon. I thought they were crazy. I didn't finally see the dragon till my last night there.

Its a minor point, but the effects are all on the same single set of barges.
Each connected barge just has several different "sets" of lighting EFFECTS they can switch on or off during the show.

This is even lower-tech than the SpectroMagic Parade.

I still want to say that I DO SEE this show every time I go to WDW.

Once you understand that it is not a "Disney Spectacular" but a bit of Disney "History", you can enjoy it on that level.

Kids seem to like it because its kind of "spooky-fun" to see those lights floating out on the water.

i LOVE the electric water pageant!! lol i dont know why. when i stayed at wilderness lodge, i looked forwared for it every night! its not that special. but it so cute, and cool to watch. little kids might like it, cos its like where did those come from?!

I have always loved the EWP. It's just nostalgic! The best was seeing last week from the balcony of our room at the GF. It came by there about 9:15 or so. Hope you can catch it and enjoy!!!

Huh, whaddayaknow! I didn't realize that at all but it makes perfect sense. :) Thanks.

Our FAVORITE way to see the EWP is to take the horse-drawn HAY-RIDE over in FtW, right after the Hoop De Doo Review.

We do this every time we go to the 7:15 Hoop:

There is a "hay-ride" (no actual HAY is used, but a wooden wagon with benches all around, drawn by two horses) that departs from in front of Pioneer Hall (the Hoop's theater) at about 9:30. The driver heads the horses down to a secluded section of beach and stops so the riders can view the EWP in private. Its really kind of special.

The hay-ride costs about $8 per person (or so) and lasts about an hour.
When not watching the EWP, the driver takes you thru the campgrounds.
She/he will answer WDW (and horse) questions and the kids seem to love it.
There are even a couple of blankets provided on colder nights.
No reservations are required, just walk up to the hitch area with the sign that says "Hay-rides" (not "Carriage Rides", that's another attraction.)

This has been going on for decades and most guests don't even know about it.

Thanks all. I guess we'll just have to see how we're doing at the time, and if we want to wait around for it to come by the Contemp.

You don't have to be a resort guest to watch the water parade. :sad2:

This is one of my favorite things to see at WDW. I have been watching this since I was 5 years old and it is very special to me  Granted, it isn't the most spectacular thing at WDW - but who cares - it's still fun and magical :teeth:

I hope to see it this Dec. My DD's would love to watch the floats and sit on a beach to boot! The FtWC wagon ride sounds like fun to combine the two. Thanks for all the info folks!

I am soo looking foward to that. That was one of the reasons we chose FW.

You'll have a great time!

Just want to say, in general, that even those who do not stay at FtW can enjoy the hay-ride and/or the romantic surrey rides, or rent bikes and boats to enjoy in this quiet woodsy area.
