I need to get a new toothbrush and wondered whether to get an electric one this time.

Do you think the electric toothbrushes clean your teeth any better?

I have both and I really like the electric one best, just feels revitalizing :)

We have the Braun Oral-B, I think. It works really well. DS7 & DD4 both use it as well. The dentist was really impressed that the kids were using it & how clean their teeth were.

I bought my daughter an Oral B with a one minute timer. She brushes her bottom teeth for 1 minute then it makes a noise and she brushes her top teeth for 1 minute. She has been using it for about a month and I can tell a difference in her teeth. BTW my dentist recommend the Oral B.

This is what we have been taught in dental school - The electric toothbrushes do not work any better than manual toothbrushes unless: you are disabled and have difficulty with the motions needed to use a manual tooth brush OR you like the idea of having a new gadget and therefore brush your teeth more often or for a longer period of time.
If you use the manual toothbrush correctly, it should clean your teeth as well as an electric toothbrush.
In my personal experience... I like my Sonicare that we received last year... however, I have no problem using my manual toothbrush when I need to charge my electric one or when I'm traveling.

I bought the Sonicare on the recommendation of my dentist. Not that she said I *had* to have, just that if I was going to get one that the Sonicare was the better of the brands out there. Something about the rotation being better than the Oral B, yet they thought the Oral B was good for kids??? Who knows. Anyway, I really like it. My teeth have the "just from the dentist" kind of smoothness that I never got with a manual toothbrush. The other plus is that the teeth in the back (which are really way far back in my mouth) are getting a much better cleaning. With a manual toothbrush it was hard for me to get the brush head way back there AND articulate well. Now I just stick it back there and the brush does all the work.

Definitely! I switched to a Braun 3D or whatever it's called a couple of years ago and it really does make a huge difference. My hygenist kept telling me to get one and I finally did. I'm glad I did.
I could never go back to using just a plain toothbrush.

"look at my teeth now:teeth:" Nice eh?

We have the Braun Oral-B and the Sonicare. While I like and use the Oral-B, I prefer the Sonicare. My teeth feel very clean and it stimulates the gums. IMO, the Sonicare cleans the hard to reach places a little better than Oral-B.

We've been upgrading our Sonicare for years now.
No plaque on our teeth:teeth:
I'd have to go with Sonicare!

According to my dental hygienist, electric toothbrushes are the way to go! I bought one and really like it.

After using and Oral B which croaked, we bought a Sonicare. The hygenist noticed the difference immediately.
