I am going to try to keep the furnace down this winter and thought an electric throw might good when I am just laying around reading or watching tv. Is it worth it and does it get really warm?

Yes, they do get nice and warm! I've had a few electric throws and I also like to give them as gifts. The only mistake I made with mine was leaving the cords accessible to little bunny teeth. They don't work too well after a few bunny bites!:)

I've had a few but having to keep it plugged in makes them a little impractical for me.

I like the sherpa blankets

I like to use rice/corn bags. Throw them in the microwave for a few minutes and toss under the blanket with you. Now if I could only get the animals to stop sleeping right on top of them and stealing all my heat!

I was given a Sunbeam electric throw as a Christmas gift a few years ago. It definitely does keep you warm and I love it but have to be careful to keep the cords away from kids and animals.

I love my electric blanket. This year I plan to use the fireplace a lot more as well to heat the house.

We call it the magic blanket:thumbsup2. Ours is a throw, but we use it to warm up the bed. Winters cal get chilly in Canada, and I turn down the heat at night as my hubby likes a cool room, with warm blanket. So we warm up the bed while getting ready for tha night and then have it turn off before going to sleep. I was an Xmas gift last year from my sister. Does she know me or what:goodvibes.

We have one. I use it but it is short. But I prefer the no sew fleece blanket. I made one with 3 yards of fabric for each side. Plenty of room to cover head to toes.

It is the go to blanket. I ended up making my husband and each of my kids a long one of their own.

What a great idea - I will steal it!! :goodvibes

I have had a Sunbeam throw for several years that we barely used. I don't like getting into a cold bed, but dislike electric blankets or electric mattress covers. I will start using the throw to warm the bed then disconnect it, then use our light down blanket - we, too, like a cool room. :thumbsup2
