When was the last time that either NYC or DC went Republican? To suggest that those two cities are only going Democrat now is because they don't feel safe under Bush is laughable.

And for my prediction, I think that Kerry will win both the popular and electoral counts. :(

My prediction is GWB will be spending an infinite amount of time on that ranch he so dearly loves. :)

yeah, hopefully he won't have so much "hard work" to do then. ;)

There will be widespread reports of "voter intimidation" (asking for an ID) and disenfranchisement which will encourage the lawsuits and litigation that will go beyond today but hopefully not as long as it did in 2000

The network news will begin calling Kerry the winner with 1% of the vote in but perhaps this year will remember that Florida has 2 time zones.

My prediction is that we will have a President-elect by tomorrow morning.

I voted fro Kerry today
I think it will be very close and that Kerry could win the pop vote but if Bush wins those key states he'll win the electoral college and thats all that matters

No matter who wins if its close neither candidate will have won this mandate from the country and the country is so divided. It will be hard for either man to fix whats wrong.

God bless america and all of us

I have been saying for months, it is not going to be that close. There will be no room for contesting the results. Bush is headed back to Crawford.

I agree with you faithinkarma, I think Kerry will win by a comfortable margin.

Well, it would be much easier to be a former president than a president! You alsomost make me hope he loses!;) Love the view! Our farm road looked like that for a wee bit! Absolutely spendid!

Last night, I was a bit nervous, but today I'm pretty confident that Bush will have a decisive victory. I predict he'll win both the popular and the electoral votes. I think he's going to take both Ohio and Florida.

I'm still jumpy, though. It's going to be an interesting night. Either way, I hope it's a clear decision, and I hope the "loser" accepts defeat gracefully.

I just told my DH that I should not have
played it so cautious in my post on this thread, last night.
I really wanted to say that Bush would win handily,
maybe even within "landslide" proportions,
and to predict he'd get a huge amount of
the popular vote over Kerry.
But.... I played it safe & simply said it wouldn't
be as close as they were calling it...

Oh ye of little faith!

OK so far I am off a little....

popular vote:

BUSH: 58,073,613

KERRY : 54,523,310

difference: 3,550,302 (not bad...by George..)

I guess I will hold off on the electoral vote..but ...;)

With the required number of electoral votes to put Kerry in the WH.

Wow, I looked at the percentages and thought you did quite well, basically they were in-line with the news outlets. However, I took a second look and saw you had Kerry with 52% --- Maybe in 2008.

The election is still up in the air, but here's a breakdown, with 99% nationwide precincts reporting:

President Bush
254 electoral votes
58,239,700 (51% total)

John Kerry
252 electoral votes
54,689,690 (48% total)

There is a difference of 3,550,010 popular votes, between the two.

Just an added tidbit:

Senate (51 seats needed for majority)
Republicans have 53 seats
Democrats have 44 seats

House (218 seats needed for majority)
Republicans have 228 seats
Democrats have 199 seats

Governor
28 Republicans
21 Democrats

Maybe for a hometown celebration, but then he'll return to Washington, DC to complete his second term.

I predict Bush will win the popular vote 53%-47%, Kerry takes PA, NJ, HI, and maybe MN, Bush takes FL, OH, and most of the other swing states for a decisive win. I think people will enter the voting booths and make a gut call for the status quo, mostly for reasons of national security.

I was a couple of points off on the popular vote, but Nadine NV, are you there? Because I'm changing my username to MISS CLEO. (I acutally think it's taken, but hey :) ;) :) )
