When *is* it open? We've been to Disney a dozen times and have *never* been able to eat there!

Generally, when Disney thinks it will be hosting extra crowds - peak summer and holiday periods usually. There isn't any guarantee that they'll open it at any particular time though.

The last time I saw it open was the second weekend in May. It was a pretty slow day.

It was okay. My friend liked her veggie tacos a lot, though.

We went to the MK on Saturday at the end of President's Day Week and it was open. Food was OK. My daughter at least got to cross another restaurant off her list. Her goal is to eat at every restaurant at WDW!

In January, quite out of the blue it was open. Wasn't particularly busy so we're not sure why. After so many trips to WDW this was the first time we've seen it open so we had to try it. LOL
It was actually very very good but..........I placed my order, waited at the window, got my food...then the woman SHUT the window and closed the whole place down! Talk about timing..2 minutes later and we would have missed it AGAIN! LOL LOL

I hope you find it open on one of your trips. It was well worth it!

We were there from April 9-19, and it was open everyday. The "times guide" for MK showed it open until at least the next Saturday (25th). One thing to note about El Pirata is that even when it's open, the hours are limited--11:30 to 3:00 last week. We find El Pirata to be very good, and a nice option that's not available at CS around the World. Enjoyed the taco plate, which we really load up with fillings from the toppings bar!

Did she yell "NO SOUP FOR YOU!"?:rotfl:

It was THAT CLOSE! LOL

Honestly though, if we weren't in our usual Vacation Zone Out :cool2: mode I might have looked around and noticed they seemed to be winding down on their service for the day. As it was there were people who came in after us only to exclaim "It was open just a minute ago...where did everyone go?" LOL They closed it down amusingly fast. :rotfl:

:lmao:!!!

Trying to get El Pirata when it's open is worse than trying to get a prime time ressie at Le Cellier - but at least with the latter, you do know when it will be open! Some day, maybe some day ..... tacos, etc ;)

That explains why nobody ever seems to see the place open. El Pirata y el Perico must be the most elusive restaurant on property. Reports of its existence have escalated to mythical proportions. I think you're more likely to see the actual Yeti (opposed to the one at Expedition Everest) than seeing this little spot in Adventureland in operation.

We once ate there when we first arrived to MK. When we went we didn't realize how illusive and rare this occasion was b/c it's never really been open any other time (even though we usually go around the same time of year). However, we really liked the food! (Taco Salad yum yum!) But since it's menu is so limited anyways, we don't seek the place out.

we got lucky with it last week, but the last 2 trips, over a span of 6 years it was never open!

It was nice to take a french fry break, kids enjoyed their tacos!

Funny, I was just thinking about this today! Never seen it open, and we've been summer, winter.... I am really, really hoping to snag a meal there once on our next trip in June. I have a feeling this next trip is going to be the one - it's girls only so my hubby will never believe it if we do find it open!
