Just wanted to post that we FINALLY got to see this restaurant OPEN and we actually ATE FOOD there!!:rotfl2:
I have been to Disney countless times and it has never been open. I was complaining before we left that maybe it wasnt really there. We ate there and enjoyed the food. DH, DD and I had taco salads and DS had tacos and rice. We went back at another time to get more tacos, but it was closed for the evening. Oh well, at least I got to see it open and try it once!!:thumbsup2

I have never seen this place open either! Were the tacos and taco salads good?

:cool1: So glad to hear that it's opened again! We were there last month and it was closed for a little while so no taco salads for us...I was so bummed!

For anyone who wants to know, those taco salads are soooo good! I must be lucky because I've always found the restaurant open (except last month) and have always been able to enjoy the excellent taco salads. I will be enjoying one in October!

Not to disappoint, but we were there last week and the restaurant was not serving any tacos or taco salads. They were open to make up for Pecos Bill's being closed. Here's the recent menu:

Cheeseburger - served with apple slices or potato chips $6.59

BBQ Pork Sandwich - served with apple slices or potato chips $8.69

Caesar Salad with Chicken $7.19

Triple Chocolate Cake $3.59

Chocolate Chip Cookie $1.19

Kid's Picks
for 9 and under
all meals include choice of 2 side items: carrot sticks, grapes or applesauce
Choice of 1% Mickey Milk, small bottled water, or apple juice

Smucker's Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich $4.99

Chocolate Chip Cookie or Soft Drink substituted upon request

Beverages

Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Minute Maid Light Lemonade, Apple Juice, Nestea Iced Tea $2.19 and $2.49

Whole Milk or Chocolate Milk $1.29

Orange Juice- $2.39

Hot Tea or Cocoa $1.89

Nescafe Coffee - $1.89

Bottled Water - $2.50

Hi All!
I know exactly what you mean! This place is normally closed whenever I vacation at Disney but the one time of year that I know it is normally open is when I visit at the end of April as I will be again this year. I love the taco salad because I like the fact I can build my own salad at the toppings bar they have and on a hot day a taco salad is a nice choice. I also am in love with the Chicken Noodle Soup Bowl over at the Noodle Station which is also only open during peak periods so I only get to catch this place open during my trips in April. Whenever I go at the end of October neither place is open.

It's right across From the Pirates of the Carribean ride. I hope it is open in May.... It's never open when we are there either!!!

I was just asking about the menu change on another thread. We usually go in December or January and it has been closed. Years ago we went when it was open and really liked. Hoping to try it again when it's serving tacos. I guess that means will have to make the sacrifice and keep goning back to WDW, year after year in search of El Pirata y El Perico;)

I would like to eat there - never really paid any attention to it - now I will. Hopefully it will be open when we are there!! I know my husband would like the change of food - other than the normal stuff. Fingers crossed!!!!

When we were there after Thanksgiving last year...it of course wasn't open by the time we got there (we were told they closed at 2pm-seems like odd hours but anyway). We ate at Peco Bills and they had a taco salad on their menu, it came with the shell and meat and you went to their bar and filled it up. It was delicious and I would get it again.

I think the menu change was just temporary while Peco's Bills was being refurbished.

When we go in the summer it's always open for lunch. We love their tacos and taco salads!

It was open with burgers when we were there in Feb because of Pecos Bill's being closed. But President's Weeek 2008 we had the opportunity to eat there with the regular menu. I had an excellent taco salad, DH had tacos and DD had the kids quesidalla. Her friend also had a taco salad and loved it. The only other time I could remember seeing it open was during the first year's Pirate and Princess parties (August 2007 maybe?)
