I think I would like to take my boys to see WallE at this theatre while were in Anaheim. I was looking at the website and was wonedering from someone who has been about the seating. The VIP section is pretty pricey at $25 a person, but the general admission is hard to tell if my kids will have a good view. Also what about parking? Is there a price and is it convient to the theatre.

Thanks so much for the help.

We want to go to El Capitan, too. So BUMP! I'd like to know more!

I wanted to go there too. I've been before but it's been a long time.
But when we'll be there, they'll be showing the Narnia movie which I have no interest in seeing.
Especially since there are 6 of us. I'm not paying 70-something dollars to see a movie I don't even want to see.

So instead we'll have to settle for going to the Disney Soda Fountain and getting an ice cream.

Good luck getting you answers. Is there a main number you can call about the parking?

I have been to El Capitan a lot and love it!!!

I have done VIP and non-VIP. First if you buy VIP you don't have to wait and you have a assigned seat. Usually they pick the best seats for VIP. But some showing have become more VIP and less non-VIP. We had very few seats in the balcony to chose from, they were OK, not great. But we could see the movie just fine.

The VIP also comes with a plastic bucket of popcorn and a bottled soda. I find this convient since we usually get popcorn and drinks anyway at the movie. I like that the bucket also keeps the popcorn for later if you can't eat it all at the show.

Also some of the shows give you extras you can not see anywhere else. Some of the events alone are worth the additional price. I think especially the opening nights are amazing. If you see Panels or shows, go ahead and splurge the extra plus the movie in a beautiful and historical theater is well worth the price!!!

I have never been but have heard there are extras that make it worthwhile. I can tell you about the parking situation and stuff. Its in Hollywood and the easiest is to park at Hollywood/Highland. Parking is cheap because its a city lot (underground) and you can even get it validated just by buying a piece of candy at Rocky Mtn. Its across the street and there's a crosswalk just outside the Kodak Theater.

Kodak Theater and the Hollywood/Highland Center are the same. The parking entrance is actually on Highland between the Center and The Renaissance Hotel.

I think some of the GA seats are just as good as the reserved seats (or at least very close) but it really depends on when you go and what kind of competition there is to get them.

Unfortunately I haven't been often enough to give you a good handle on which days/times are best.

I will say I've seen really long lines for GA seats, and other times when you could have walked up last minute and had your pick.

Last time we went we had reserved seats in the front row of the 1st balcony and I actually moved back a couple of rows and sat in a GA seat because there was absolutely no leg room at my assigned seat.
Of course since there were only 3 of us in the entire section, it was not a big deal. ;)

We sometimes park on the street in the neighborhood behind the theatre, but you've got to be really careful about following the signs to the letter. The meter maids are ruthless! It's probably worth it to just use the parking garage most times.

OK let me see if I have this right... If I buy VIP tickets we will have an assigned seat and if I just buy GA tickets we will have to wait in line and then just find available seats?

Parking: Does a purchase to the theatre count for validation, how about at the Disney Soda shop?

Thanks so much for all the help!popcorn::

Yep, that's exactly right.
The VIP tickets also include a bucket of popcorn and a soda or bottled water.

I'm pretty sure they both validate.
IIRC there is a $2.00 charge even with a validation though, and if you go over the validation period (4 hours) they charge extra for every 20 minutes, so be sure to keep an eye on your time. I think the max. daily fee is $10 if you do happen to go over.

From the El Capitan official site:

"HOLLYWOOD & HIGHLAND PARKING FACILITY, (6801 Hollywood Blvd.) is located directly across the street from the El Capitan Theatre. Enter the parking structure from either Highland Ave. or Orange Dr. Partial parking validation subject to availability."

Maybe the bit about "partial validation" is why we had to pay $2.00 last time we were there? But we didn't think $2.00 for almost 4 hours with just our validation from El Capitan was bad. Some of the parking rates in that area are crazy!

Scooter,
Do you park free if you have a validation from the shopping center?

Yes from what I remember. Its a city lot and doesn't cost that much anyway. I believe its $2 for so many hours anyway. Really cheap considering its Hollywood.

I've done both GA and VIP, and I would recommend VIP. I did GA for opening weekend of POC 3, and it was a madhouse. We got there an hour early and got a seat all the way to the side and three rows from the front, it really kinda sucked (though those tix included popcorn and drinks too). We did VIP for Nightmare Before christmas 3-D and it was awesome. I got to pick our seats when I bought tickets online, so I knew exactly what was going on, and no line or anything.

It isn't that much more expensive from what I remember, and it is worth it. The soda shop is awesome too. Must check that out.

We've only been once, and we did non-VIP, and we had great seats...we got there early enough to have our pick of seats in the balcony.

A group of us are going to the El on May 17th for a Narnia Lion (or line) party...a friend was able to get us group tickets at 11 bucks a head. Anyone have any experience with the kind of seats groups get? I've see the theater layout and all the seats look pretty good, but I was wondering about the exact area.

My suggestion if you want to do GA is to look at the seating BEFORE you go to the theater. Some days/some shows offer more GA seating then others. One showing I went to had GA at ground floor, center and sides of balcony. Then we bought for another show and our only choice for GA was the last center rows and the far sides of Balcony, no ground floor seating was available that show for GA. This was not even opening night it was actually one of the last days. That might effect what you chose.

As to parking at H&H, every shop/restaurant offers a different validation amount. One gives you I believe 2 hours validation and some others give I think 4 hours. I think the differences are marked on signs outside the shops or on the ticket, but you can also ask. But you can only get one validation per ticket so make sure you get the big one if you have the choice. Overall it is very easy to get across the street to the theater, and with how cheap the parking is and amount of parking it really is the best place to park.

Hi,

Does one need to arrive early for the pre-show at the El Capitan?

We have 10am seats (reserved seating) for an upcoming WallE -- I want to know if we can get there at 9:50 or so, or is the pre-show earlier than that?

thanks
