We spent 2 days at
Disneyland Paris.
Left the parks early one night to go to the Moulin Rouge.
The third day we spent in Paris and saw may things. We did the red double decker bus tour and made it to almost everywhere we wanted to hit.
Note: This was a side trip on our trip to London to visit a friend. In London we used the tube (subway) for transportation. In Paris we found it wasn't as easy to navigate, but that was just our experience. And since we were only here one day we wanted to be able to see the city between locations so we opted for the bus. On the bus they tell you about the things you are passing along the way. You miss all that on the subway.
Things we saw on our whirlwind day in Paris! We started early! We stayed on Disney property, so we took the Metro (subway) to the Nord train station where we had to catch the train back to London later that night. Put our luggage in lockers and off we went.
First stop Notre Dame: Inside and out!
For parts of the tour we were the only ones on the bus so they guide did the talking in English.
Lots of traffic everywhere!
Arc de Triomphe and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - We went to the top too. Lots of stairs!
We did not get to see this up close... Sacared Heart Church.
We did some walking/sight seeing. Don't remember the name of this bridge... Alex... something.
Had some french crapes at the base of the Eiffel Tower.
Went up the Eiffel Tower as far as you could go and we did the stairs! We decided to go run up so we would get farther faster...people were cheering us on...we just got tired faster!
As a note we went in January low travel season so not many tourists.
Made it to the Louvre less than an hour before closing (so we didn't have to pay to get in).
Saw the Mona Lisa.
Didn't make it to the Venus de Milo that section was already closed, but we saw lots of other stuff trying to get there.
Went back to the Eiffel Tower to see it at night.
Back in 2004 it twinkled every 30 minutes or something. The twinkling LED lights look blue in this photo.
Had dinner with a friend.
Got our luggage.
And headed back to London.
We didn't really feel rushed. We were were taking it all in. They was three of us, all in our 20s. We generally don't do relaxing vacations so it might be different for others.
We had lots of travel guides and I planned this trip like a Disney trip. I made a list of what I wanted to see, plotted them all out on the map and started putting together a route. The buses go from major site to site. You can get on and off as you please at the stops. We took it on the further trips between sites and it gave our feet a break and we warmed up.
