Eiffel Tower sold out

Hi all! We're going to DLP in the first week of October. Before my summer holiday, tickets weren't on sale, and now that I've had a chance to check again, they're sold out.

Is it worth going early and getting in line? They don't only sell tickets online, do they?

Yes, you can queue up when you get there - but we did see very long lines when we visited.

I'm surprised that it's sold out, but then I know a lot of organised tour operators purchase tickets in advance too - that was how we visited, through a tour company.

If you don't mind the climb you can get a walking ticket really cheaply and with minimal queues - about 3 euros from what I remember. You can only go to the second floor, but there are great views from ther

When we went last October, we also found that it was booked out online. However, we were able to queue up for tickets without a problem. We were recommended to go to the Pillar furthest from the Metro station because the queue there is often shorter and we found that it was.

Thanks, all! I'm pretty fit, so I could walk up, but I'll have young children with me, so I'll probably take a chance on the line furthest from the metro. I've been to the tower before, but that was long before I had children.

We climbed the Eifel Tower last week. Queues for the elevator were quite long (though nothing special, compared to some DLRP queues...), but there was no queue for the stairs. Taking the stairs is 4 euros per person. It's do-able for kids as well.
When we went, not all "pillars" were open, only north (elevator) and east (stairs), and the elevator to the top wasn't working (there are no stairs to the top). So maybe that's worth checking out: if you can't go to the top, you might as well walk, hehehe.
