Egg and Walnut Allergies

We have members in our party with anaphylactic allergies to eggs and walnuts. We will avoid CS and buffets because of the risk of cross-contamination. Likely to do some TS with advance calling about the allergies. Wondering about snacks throughout the parks - what is/isn't safe for eggs/walnuts? Does anyone have any advice or information?
Thanks!

Yes, look in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is a section in that post about diets and food allergies that includes information on who to contact for more information.

If you don't see that thread, there is a link to it in my signature.

Do not skip the buffets. The chef will talk with the person with the food allergies. If necessary they will make the dishes in the kitchen so as to avoid cross contamination just like a regular sit down restaurant. This has been discussed in the past by people with celiac and food allergies. If a guest cannot eat the buffet food because of medical diet such as pureed food then they will do that specially for the guest.

Counter service is actually likely to not have that much contamination for eggs and walnuts. The CS restaurants have a fixed menu for each restaurant. Most of the items don't include either eggs or walnuts. Because the menu is fixed, there is little chance that the items will even be in that restaurant at all.
The CS restaurants also have an ingredient book that posters have reported looking at to find out the ingredients for particular foods.
The only CS item I have seen that may have walnuts in it was carrot cake and that is made off-site and prepackaged.

Definately let the special diets/dining people know ahead of time what the allergies are and they will send you plenty of info. We just returned last night from our first trip with food allergic children and it was so nice to eat like normal people. The people in your group will no doubt enjoy this perk as well. We ate at a buffet and the chef came to our table and provided us with options, made the meal himself, then walked it back to our table. We had been a little nervous about CS meals too, but by the end of the week we were really tired of having our cooler, diaper bag, medication bag checked at the gate and left the cooler at home. CS managers were knowledgable and also prepared the food themselves. Snacks were a little tricky- lots of ice cream treats made by Nestle and all are made on shared equipement with peanuts so were off limits to us. We did find many places with fresh fruit which was great. Take your own favorite snacks and save money if you are unsure.
