Egg Allergy and ADRs

DD is allergic to eggs. She vomits almost immediately and later develops a rash, so needless to say, we try to avoid eggs at all costs! It's not a pretty sight in the middle of the restuarant, but we've done a pretty good job of avoiding an egg "run in" lately.

Here are my questions....when making ADRs, is there a spot to include the egg allergy? I assume it's then transfered over to info at check in so the waiter/waitress knows? Do they usually talk to you about it when you first sit down?

She just won't eat something if we know it has egg in it, and if its something that can be done without the egg ingredient (like a salad with no dressing), we have them bring that out for her.

Thanks!

Check out the stickies on this board. You will find contact information for Brenda with Special Diets. She will send you a form to fill out and she will add your daughter's allergy to all of her ADRs. I don't know if they have anything like this for eggs but I know for gluten, milk and peanuts they have lists of foods that are free of these allergens. I really hope they have an egg list as well as we just found out our daughter has to add eggs to her list of foods to avoid.

Even though the ADR does have the allergy note attached, you still want to tell the person seating you as well as your server when you arrive. A chef will come out to your table and go over options with you.

As you're about to find out, WDW really is the greatest place to vacation when you have a food allergy in the family.

I agree to contact the special diets office - and have the allergy noted on your ADR's. If you are eating at QS places make sure to tell them about the allergy BEFORE you order. Most QS places now will send out a manager rather than just handing you a gigantic binder full of ingredients to read though. Most places were great (Pizzafari, ABC Commissary) - the Electric Umbrella was VERY annoying and the "manager" they sent out was less than helpful.

I think Divvies products are egg free and they have great choc. chip cookies, jelly beans, caramel corn they sell at WDW. Many restaurants have the cookies but you have to ask for them - and sometimes the first person you ask doesn't know.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. I would suggest start in Post #3 and look for the "dietary restrictions" area.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.
