Effective wrinkle face care??

I want to start some serious wrinkle prevention! I have been using Loreal regenerist stuff, but I want to try something new. My mom uses that meaningful beauty Cindy Crawford stuff.

Any GOOD stuff that WORKS?

ROC skincare. You can buy it at Walgreens and if you watch, it goes BOGO 50% off throughout the year. The stuff is amazing. We have a neighbor who is a skincare specialist and she suggested it to me about 2 years ago. I only wish I had started it long ago.

I have been using Alpha Hydrox products for the last couple of years. You used to be able to find it in drugstores and at Ulta but I can't find it around here. I order it online directly from their site. Very resonably priced and it works!

My grandmother would say nothing reduces your wrinkles, it can only make them softer.

My mom swears by Strivecten, but it's VERY pricey... $100 or so per tube.

Your grandmother would be right. The only thing that WORKS once you have wrinkles is cosmetic surgery.

But if you don't have wrinkles or want to slow them down, moisturizer and sunscreen. Don't smoke, limit your exposure to pollutants in general, drink plenty of water.

And really, any moisturizer will do. You just want to lock in the moisture that is in your skin (moisturizer doesn't provide moisture, it keeps what is there from evaporating off).

A dermotologist told me Alpha Hydroxys in AM, Retinol at night. She recommended Neutrogena as they have some of the fewest extra ingredients.
This was a couple of years ago...I have seen good reports about Avon Anew & ROC but have not tried them myself.
I will say that having used the Neutrogena products the last few years, most who don't know me think I am in my 30s (I am almost 45). Where I notice it is the backs of my hands...after I put the lotion on my face, I rub the rest on my hands. My hands have virtually NO sunspots compared to my forearms. I was not a sun goddess when I was younger, but we joined a club a few years ago so I have spent much more time in sun the last few years (LOTS of sunscreen).
I figure that shows those products work!
Do NOT be pulled in by high priced products--they have not been proven to work any better--you are typically paying for packaging & marketing. Stick to the under $50 price point (actually $25 probably covers most...my Neutrogena runs less than $15/tube, but I catch it on sale)

Maybe. My main skin care product for years has been Vaseline. I seldom wear sunscreen (but am seldom outside) I'm 45 and have gotten seriously carded in the past five years buying wine. But my mother is 67 and looks 50 - both of us ended up with "good genes."

Overnight: Renova (RX)

Daytime: Lumene Vit C cream (under eye fine lines) and Olay everywhere else.

The only topical products that have been proven in studies to reduce fine lines are the retinoids (not retinols) which are only available by Rx and most insurance won't pay for them unless you are young and they are prescribed for acne. Retin-a cost about 125 per small tube if you're paying cash, I'm sure the generic versions are just as good but much cheaper. You can also buy in MX and CA for much less and without Rx (on your next vacation?)

The best treatment is prevention: 90% of the signs of aging are from sun damage so avoid the sun, repetative motions cause wrinkles (sucking a cigarette leads to purse-string wrinkles around the mouth) Being overweight when younger (stretches the skin) and underweight when older (we lose disproportionate amounts of fat in our faces) will make you look older. Nothing fixes deep wrinkles except injectables.

Retin-A and Renova are often sampled in Dermatologists office. Ask for a sample and give it a try.

For the last 10 years or so I have used Mary Kay skin care program. Two weeks ago, I was carded for buying wine in the grocery store by two ladies - I'll be 44 on my next birthday. They didn't believe my age until I showed my license.
I avoid the sun and wear sunscreen everyday. I never liked the feel of being 'h-o-t' lying in the sun at the pool - much better in the shade with my Kindle Also, wear sunglasses whenever outside so you don't squint and therefore, no lines. But, please keep laughing!

My mom swears by vaseline and alcohol. Her skin looks awesome and soft! I was just noticing how young she looks for being in her mid-70s. I think I'm going to start using it but my pores are huge and I'm kinda scared it's gonna break me out!

Funny how most women think they look younger than all the other women their age, lol. Didn't see one woman on this board write "I look much older than my age. I've never been carded and I'm only 20 or everyone calls me grandma and I'm only 28." In reality, we probably all look our ages give or take a year or two. I have noticed that often overweight women and those with fuller faces look younger than thin women. So we can either be wrinkle free and heavy or thin and wrinkled as a prune! Can't have it all!

I've tried it all! But the best for the money is Mary Kay Basic Skin care. The mask (scrub) toner and moisturizer. I think they're all about $12 each!? The mask/scrub really transforms your skin. And I don't sell Mary Kay, but I will stand by it. When I sold Avon I was still using Mary Kay. Check out their website or call your local rep.

my great aunt (who's in her 80's now) probably has less wrinkles than me (42), and she swears by vaseline.

BUT my mom asked her 'natural health' doctor, and he said "oh my goodness, don't put vaseline (petroleum) on your face!"

so I'm torn... people have used it for years for diaper rash, etc, but it "is" a petro product, isn't it??
