Wow... :sad2:

edit: this review below is from www.tripadvisor.com and is not my opinion nor do I agree with it. I guess some people think that I am saying these things? :confused3

"Yes, the hotel is beautiful and has a great tropical ambiance, but $400 for a mediocre motel room? Please! Unless you are rich, you will not be able to experience this level of Disney "magic" or convenience. Disney really rakes it in on these "deluxe" resorts. Why can't they make it more affordable for families? I know there are cheaper options such as the moderates or value resorts, but then you are stuck eating at a food court and swimming at an overcrowded pool. With all the money they are making at the parks why make the lodging options so expensive? I also find it insulting that the "value" resorts are so cheesy and gaudy- almost like they are making fun of people who can't afford the other resorts. It makes no sense. If you are an adult, the value resorts are a joke. Who wants to sit by a pool with an oversized cell phone next to it? Yacht and Beach are the biggest dissapointments. Not enough to do and pretty plain, save for the pool, which they make you pay for the rubber rafts. Like $350 isn't enough for them to take from you. I will not be returning to Disney again. It's just a money making machine. The parks have become tiresome and boring. And I could live without seeing another fat family with fanny packs strapped on, pushing their way to the front of an overpriced fast food line."

That's one person who has never tried to get a hotel room in New York City that is bigger than a closet, less than $450 a night, and doesn't have bugs.

OMG, someone was obviously having a very bad hair day. You wonder who posts that kind of stuff and what exactly they were expecting?

Yikes! What exactly were they expecting? If they think there is not enough to do at the Epcot resorts, I don't know why they went to Disney in the first place :confused3 .

I agree with you!

The comment about the ovesized cll phone is funny :rotfl: I can't tell you how many times I have looked around and saw tons of people on the REAL cell phone. That is much more annoying to me. And the comment about the oversized family I think maybe you should find a deserted island and vacation there. That way the visuals are not annoying to you. :snooty: You are definetly not spreading the magic. :sad2:

 :wave2: princess: princess:

There is not enough to do at YC/BC????? and pretty Plain????
What did they want.... the circus to come through each day ... Or better yet ... for the parks to come to them at their resort? Geeeeshhhhh!

Obviously these are people who don't "get" Disney and never will. I would say good, there are enough true Disney lovers in the world to do without them, but I think it does make it bad for people who are researching doing Disney for the first time to have that kind of report floating around. Really sad. BTW, we are not an oversized family, do not wear fanny packs and do not shove ahead in lines. I really don't think we are the atypical Disney family. Disney families come in all shapes and sizes, and IMHO the people who love Disney the most are not the few rude people you see now and then.

Let me guess....Type A personality who drags his/her family around the parks because it's the "right" thing to do (You want your friends to know you're such a family person). Please! Do us all a favor and stay home next time. Disney is for everyone, all sizes and shapes. People who want to have fun, enjoy life and live each moment to the fullest go to Disney. :listen: Maybe you should relax and enjoy life

Exactly! Why did this person go to WDW in the first place??
And that quote about the fat families! I suppose this guy is Mr America??? How dare he?? WDW is for everyone! Except OP, get out and stay out!

These people are better off going to a Six Flags park. They obvciusly don't understand Disney.
Did they go to Universal? If they thought Disney was bad, Universal feels like the slums.

Why can't they make it more affordable for families? I know there are cheaper options such as the moderates or value resorts, but then you are stuck eating at a food court and swimming at an overcrowded pool.
The use of the word "affordable" is then contradicted by saying one is "stuck eating at a food court" :confused3 We love the food courts. Sure we splurge on some sit-down meals during the week, but the food courts help to make eating in WDW more "affordable for families" to quote you. As for overcrowded pools.....the pools are no more overcrowded at the deluxe Poly than they are at the All Stars or POR for example. I've tried them all. If you're an AP holder, some very good rates have come out for the deluxe resorts. It's all in your way of thinking and what you make of a situation.

And I could live without reading another post like yours :sad2:

Although I do agree that person doesn't understand Disney, I do have to agree about the exorbitant prices of the Deluxe resorts. I actually love Pop and don't find it embarrassing, but I would like to be able to afford to do a deluxe once. We are going to try for AKL in October, but I just can't justify it at $324 per night. that's why I'm hoping for a code.

Hopefully a code will come out for your time period. Or you could consider also purchasing an AP. You can wait until you see if an AP discount is released (for Oct, it probably won't be much before July/Aug) before actually buying the AP. But with AP discounts, I've seen the Poly for $287/night and a savannah view at the AKL for $199/night. Good luck !

I have to agree that Disney resorts of all levels are priced higher than the equivilent one could find beyond the gates. The premium we pay is for being 'in the World' and on vacation 24/7. I've stayed in Kissimmee at a bargain basement rate for a nice efficiency once, never again. I've stayed at AllStar, POR, Swan and Dolphin and while I'd rather sample the high end, I'd take a value resort over a 4 star hotel off property, even if they cost the same.

Yah I lived in a hotel in nyc for a month when I first moved to atlanta my company wanted me to commute tried it and it was a joke, I think my hotel room was 125 sqft.

For some people Disney just doesn't suit them. There are some people who think everbody is out to get them. Obviously this person falls into that catagory. If they would have been on these boards they would have never paid $400 per night. Planning is everything isn't it??
ADP :goodvibes

I must admit that my family and I wear...gulp...fanny packs. But on the bright side that guy did not try to bash anyone who is toting backpacks on wheels.

I agree that this poster's opinions of the resorts is harsh and obviously not a Disney fan to begin with!!! However, I personally do not like the look of the value resorts and would not stay at any of those for many reasons. I do wish they had a more value minded resort which wasn't as over the top as the the AS's or POP. I know that many people love them and that's great. Even though they are for me, I certainly wouldn't go around make those kind of comments.
