For reasons out of our control, our travel plans are suddenly changing.
Our original plan was to start our drive to Fl from NC around 2:00 a.m. on June 7, this would have us arriving around lunch time.

Now, we can't leave NC until around 11:00 a.m.!

Should I pay the $65.00 and move the trip back a day?
Get there around 10 or 11 p.m. on what would have been a park day and just make our check out day a park day? (and book a night off property that night?)

REALLY bite the bullet and start looking for flights?

I could never get up at 2 am and drive --LOL . I would leave on your scheduled day, and just drive until midnight etc. I don't think 10hrs is a bad drive at all( I assume you included stops). I would book an inexpensive hotel for that night and pay the $65 to change the reservation. The additional cost would be worth it to me to not mess with your vaca days. Plus you will get a good nights sleep and more time in the park. Have fun!

Because you're getting to WDW very late, I would opt to stay off-site. Why pay for a place to stay if you're not even going to be able enjoy the resort and all you'll be using is the bed to sleep.

If you have the option of time on the end of your trip I would just make check out day a park day and get a room off site or see if I could extend my reservation one more night. Usually, if you are adding cost to your reservation they don't charge you to change your reservation. No matter where you sleep, you are still paying out more money; so why not have the comfort of Disney if you can and not have to unpack and repack anything again? Drive safe and enjoy your trip!

phooey... because we booked "as a package" we can only add a day as a package.
I also checked for adding one "room only night" but those are quite expensive too.

We are just going to use Tuesday as a park day, then leave when we are ready (if it is in the afternoon, start driving and maybe stay somewhere that night) (or if it is really late, just stay in Orlando off site that night and leave in the morning).

Thanks for the tips!

Just stay off-site for a night at the end of your trip. Then you won't waste a ticket day and you won't have to pay the big price for a "room only night"

We're in NC too :wave2: (Wake Forest) and it does take us 10 hours door to door to get to Disney

Many times we've driven down during the day (although we prefer to drive at night and have an extra park day), gotten there late and hit the parks early the next morning. The really nice thing about driving is you can leave when you want to (yes, we've left late and basically driven straight home, let dh get changed and sent him right off to work the next morning!)

SO if I were you - I'd drive down on your planned day and stay late/ make leaving day a park day and have FUN!!!

I'm right down the road in Rocky Mount!

That is what we are planning. Leave from the park and if we are exhausted, use some of DH's hotel points somewhere and crash.
