EE and MM - what are the differences?

Going in mid-Dec, staying onsite with 4day hoppers. I see mention of EE daily, and then MM one time on specific days. Can anyone please explain these two options to me? Thanks!

Magic Morning ( MM ) is early entry into Disneyland only, and only on either Tue, ,Thur ., or Sat. Anyone with a multi day Park Hopper gets one MM , no matter where they are staying.

Extra Magic Hour (EMH ) is only available to Guests staying at one of the three Disney Resort Hotels. Every registered Guest gets EMH for EVERY DAY that you are staying onsite. They are admitted one hour early into DCA on Sun. , Mon. , Wed. , and Fri. They are admitted one hour early into DL on Tue. ,Thur. ,and Sat., ( same as MM ).

You need to show your room key along with your admission ticket to access EMH. Make sure when you register, everyone in your party gets a room key

Here`s a tip. If you register early ( before the EMH ) , you will get room keys even if your room won`t be ready until later in the day. You can then use those room keys for EMH.

Another tip : The GCH entrance to DCA is convenient , but I don`t recommend using it for EMH. There are only 2 turnstiles and the line for EMH really backs up. I recommend using the Main entrance to DCA for EMH. You are also closer to Carsland that way.

JerryP39, thank you for the great explanation! Now it makes complete sense to me on the differences. I'm staying with sis and am planning on picking up the DL shuttle from LAX (easy place for her to drop me off) to DLH. Possibly in time for EMH the first morning we have reservations. Of corse with LA traffic we'll see how that goes. For the next three mornings (Tues-Thurs) we'll be onsite, and able to make it early.

Just to clarify for the OP, EMH/MM for DL is typically on Tues/Thu/Sat. I say typically, because occasionally there are special events which then lead them to offering EMH to the other park on those days instead, or vice versa. I corrected my previous post. Sorry, I typed in Fri by mistake. It is Tue ,Thur and Sat for MM and EMH for DL.. I know the rule if the day has a T in it then it is MM.


My best experience with EMH was the last week of Sept 2012 . When they first started the program , EMH was available for both DL and DCA ANY day of the week .They switched to the current schedule Sept 29 or 30. Carsland had just opened and everyone was using their EMH to get on RSR, That Friday , Sept 28, 2012 we chose to use our EMH for DL. There was no MM so we were the only ones in the park, I have pictures of us standing on Main St with zero people between us at the giant pumpkin and the castle. We walked onto SM, Subs, Star Tours, Matterhorn with no wait, had breakfast with only a hand full of people in the restaurant. That would be my choice for GroundHog Day ( the Bill Murray movie )

Silly add on question...so I bought our park hoppers yesterday and we will be in the parks Nov 4-6, Wed, Thurs and Fri. Do we just show up on Thursday early for MM and the CMs will know we are ok to go in early?

Yes, There are signs above the turnstiles that are for early admission. Get in that line only.
