Just a "heads up" re. Educators Appreciation Weekend at Borders this weekend. You can receive 25% off most items if you are a teacher, school librarian, homeschooler, etc. Just bring proof with you. I know that I really enjoyed the saving on personal as well as "school" items when I went last year. It starts tonight and runs through Sunday. Last year Barnes & Noble and Joseph Beth had their teacher app. sale at the same time, but I couldn't find that information on the web-sites.

Have fun shopping!:)

Even though I am considered "educational support" I am eligible for the discount too. I am really excited to pick up a few travel books I've had my eye on. My flyer says there is also free coffee and tea all weekend, plus 40% off anything you buy from the cafe. Thanks for the reminder!

Just a :bounce: up for all who have been hard at work teaching all day! Not the smartest thing to post this a.m.!

Barnes and Noble must be letting each store handle things separately. I received this e-mail today from the manager of our local store:

Local Educators,

To express our appreciation for all you do, Barnes & Noble is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, May 1st through May 9th, 2004.

Throughout the week, educators of grades pre-K through 12 and homeschoolers can enjoy a special 25% savings on all hardcover and paperback books for the classroom. If you teach at a school, bring your valid school ID, pay stub, or teacher certificate to present with your purchase. Homeschoolers may present their state certification, a Homeschoolers' Association membership
card or lesson plan as valid identification.

In addition, ask any of our booksellers for information on the many programs and resourses that Barnes & Noble offers educators every day.

If I may be of assistance, please let me know.

Sincerely,

(Community Relations Manager)

I have a teacher's certificate, but I'm not presently teaching (except to teach my children that playdough isn't food:) ). If I bring my certificate do you think I'll receive the discount?

I am certain you will receive the card. Last year they gave a card to my sister whose kids were 4 and 2. She explained that they are planning on homeschooling, which she is, but she had no paperwork to prove it. Does that make sense? I would think that if you have your certificate that you will be given a card and the discount. Good luck!
