Educate me on split stays, please

Tried to get 10 days at BLT in August and couldn't, so we split with VWL. We've never done this before, but I know others do it all the time. We did get on a waiting list for the full dates at BLT, but in the event that doesn't work out, I have no idea how this works.

How will I do ADRs?
Will one set of magic bands work for the whole trip?
I don't even know what else to think about!

Any help/suggestions is much appreciated!

We dd this for the first time in November. It worked fine. You make ADR's 180 in advance for the first part of the stay and then 180 in advance a few days later for your second part. One set of bands will work for both resorts, but they may still send you two sets.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. In theory, we could miss out on dining opportunities (like BOG) towards the end of the trip because we'll lose the initial +10, right?

So, let's say I get everything booked over the 2 reservation numbers, then the wait list comes through and those numbers automatically get cancelled. Will I have to manually change every ADR to the new one?

Even if your waitlist comes through it won't affect your dining reservations. Those will stay the same.
