last time we went, it was June and it rained for at least a little while every day. ponchos were a must.

this time, it's april and the forecast this week calls for no greater than a 20% chance of rain on any given day of our trip. Do I still want the ponchos? I bought ponchos and raincoats ahead of time, but I'm looking at the forecast and every day is supposed to be sunny with little or no chance of rain. Is that legit? Should there still be the brief afternoon rain that I'm used to?

Trying to decide if it's a waste of space (and money, since I'm from texas and it doesn't rain much here) to take all of our rain gear. TIA!

HERE are the average (and last year's) temperatures for the Orlando area.

HERE are the relative humidity averages for the Orlando area.

HERE is the Orlando monthly average rainfall.

April weather is usually great, but it is better to be prepared. We were in DHS last April, when a monsoon opened up on us. We were so happy to have those ponchos! Florida's weather can be very unpredictable.

Florida native here! In my opinion, you should be fine with your ponchos (Disney ponchos that is) and an extra pair of socks. ;) Don't forget the sunscreen! In Florida, you CAN get a mild sunburn even on a cloudy day.

Another Florida resident here
Pack the ponchos.
You will probably have lots more sun than rain, but when it does rain,it could be one of those sky opening up and buckets of water coming down for 10 minutes or so,drenching everything and everyone. Best to be prepared. But don't worry- most of the time, the sun will be shining!

Rainy season tends to start late May or June,April is pretty dry but in Florida it can rain at anytime. If a front or system moves in it can give you rainy weather for a day or two.Its better to take them just in case.

I'll be arriving the 25 of April. From what I've been told, it's usually low 80s that time of year. Has that been the case this year. Just wondering if we'll be able to swim. (Or is it cooler this year?)

Many guests swim (even in winter) if it's sunny and the temperature is at least in the upper 50's.
All the pools at the resorts and water parks are heated.

If you do swim make sure you have big warm towels for when you get out!! Getting out is freezing!! lol

I was there the first week in March and we swam, we are from Georgia so we don't swim unless it's 80 and it was. As Robo the magnificent (I gave you a new name) said, "it might rain".

I know I'm not supposed to trust the 10-day weather forecast but why is it that I look anyway?! We leave on Tuesday and the extended forecast is saying showers for the first 3 of our park days...eek...I know better than to drive myself crazy like this! :umbrella:

We no longer bring ponchos or rain coats into the park with us, unless it's raining when we leave our resort. If it starts to be a steady rain while in the park, we will just buy the nearest Disney poncho. They are less than $10 per person and are also good quality. If it rips, they'll replace it for free. It also saves you from having to carry one around until you need it.

#1 rule in Florida weather: "Wait five minutes and it will change." I always count on it raining from Spring to Fall here in my home state. From May through July, an afternoon thunderstorm is always certain. Ponchos are never a waste of space. Always pack extra dry socks in ziplock bags, (to store the wet ones.) Your feet will thank you!

Pack some ziploc bags for anything you worry may get wet.....works great for Kali too....bring light sweaters, after sun goes down it can feel chilly. Its no fun running around MK looking for long sleeve shirt or hoodies. I paid a mint for them.....we are going for the day tomorrow. Last Saturday had tomorrow as 72 for the high...its saying as of now high is 87
