Edmonton > Calgary > Orlando West Jet

I'm flying from Edmonton > Calgary > Orlando with West Jet on DEC 3.
I've never flown into Calgary airport before, usually I've transfered out in Toronto. What is the process for the Magical Express Tags flying this ED/CAL/ORL routing? Do I put my tags on my bags in Edmonton?? Do I have to collect my bags again in Calgary to do Customs??
Any help/ experience you can provide would be much appreciated!

I've never done that specific route before as I've always flown out of Calgary, but I'm pretty sure that you can put your tags on whenever you want. You will have to have your luggage with you when you go through customs, so if you go through customs in Calgary you will have to pick up your bags there anyways. If you do customs in Edmonton, then the airline should let you know whether you need to pick up your bags in Calgary, or whether they'll transfer them for you. If they don't let you know you can always ask! Either way, I can't see why you'd have any issues putting the tags on them in Edmonton, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that! I agree. The tags only have meaning at the Orlando airport. In Calgary they would be treated like any other meaningless tag.

You will definitely need to pick up your bags and clear customs in Calgary.

It depends what time of day you're flying in,how many other US flights are scheduled to go out, and how many customs agents are staffing the line.

There are times that I've zipped thru customs here in Calgary in less than 15 minutes, and other times where the line-up has been crazy and it has taken well over an hour. It's pretty much the luck of the draw.

Safe travels! Did you get a good fare on west jet? These days I pretty much Canadian Airlines because I hate having to get luggage off carousel and go thru customs, then re check in baggage. I want to get on a plane and not see my luggage again untill I arrive at my destination.

It wasn't exactly cheap, but I had the west jet travel bank I needed to use from my cancelled DL diva trip. So with cancellation fees, rebooking it was a bit of a loss of money for me. I'm happy with the schedule thankfully, and paying some travel credit/ then the balance at the later date when I booked took some of the sting out of the price! I think I paid about $850
