Since free resort parking on points is a perk that is now being extended to all resort guests (so it's not really a "perk" for DVC points anymore), does anyone think that there is any chance that any new blue card perks will be happening?

I know some people think blue card perks aren't worth it, but it would still be nice to have more perks since Iger seems to be "trying" with the general WDW patron.

ETA: And by perks, I don't mean the thing at HS at Pizzarizzo, which is not a perk, it's merely an special invitation to spend more money.

Free parking for DVC at resorts is not, and has never been, "a perk." Florida Timeshare law frowns upon charging for parking if the resort parking is maintained by our maintenance fees/dues as "common area maintenance." And I'm sure Disney is charging enough in the cash room charges that they can maintain the parking lots just fine without charging guests parking fees.

Okay, call it what you want. But that doesn't change the fact that DVC points did get free parking, and now everyone does. Therefore, it's no longer a specific DVC benefit compared to everyone else.

It certainly doesn't hurt us, as DVC owners, for the "regular" WDW resort-goer to get an extra perk. But it would sure be nice if some of these new waves of "improvements" that Iger is doing would add something just for us.

Sure, but three years ago, everyone got free parking. So, taking away someone else's benefit and then adding it back doesn't really devalue DVC.

Again, it was never a DVC "Benefit"...we paid for it, and continue to pay for it through our dues.
So then that makes it even worse, if we pay for it but now everybody else gets it for legitimately "free".

Okay, that's true. So maybe some of the old DVC perks will come back too?

It seems like the answer to my question is "NO"...

Some of the old perks may come back, but it won't have anything to do with the parking change

Free use of the lobby, the pools, the parking lot and other common areas of the resort are not perks. Disney decided to have cash guests pay for something that was always free just because they thought they could pocket the extra money. It has nothing to do with us. Free parking at the resort was one of those things that differentiated the Disney experience: sure it's costly, but then you're treated as a valued guest. During Chapek's reign of terror and nickel and diming, all that counted was the bottom line. I'm simply glad they've reversed an awful decision, even if I've never been impacted. Now, Josh, please have a look at free FP please.

But it's true that now maybe point rental rates may go down because this is not a saving that a renter can have compared to the cash rate, unless rack rates increase to compensate.

Do you not remember that before 2018 parking was complimentary for overnight guests at the hotels?

Disney was also inconsistent with the charging, some people getting charged when they didn't have any vehicle some people not getting charged when they did have a vehicle.

Are you really upset about this?

The only parking perk we had was free valet parking.
If staying on DVC points at a resort, there was no charge for parking where cash guests had to pay. I do not believe DVC has free valet, only guests with a handicap placard do.

You're right - DVC members don't have free valet now (unless they have the placard), but it used to be included with the DVC membership. I guess that went away maybe 5 years ago? Maybe a bit longer. I'm sure others know exactly when they did away with the free valet.

My understanding is that Disney Resorts (not DVC, I don’t think) contracted with a private company to provide valet services in place of Disney’s own CMs. They just didn’t bother to tell DVC members in advance, so some were hit with surprise bills for valet parking.

Boy, do we miss the days of picking up the phone and asking them to bring our car around!

No, the last time I stayed on-site was 2002 until I bought DVC last year. Off-site was crazy-cheaper.

And where, exactly, did I ever mention that I was upset? I looked back at my posts and don't see anything that was hostile or insulting. I just thought it might make for a good discussion. Sheesh...
