EDITED TITLE: Should DVC Owners get more Perks?

I thought of a perk I want. A working website....
From what I have gleaned from some of the thread responses related to perks/expectations (being somewhat facetious in the below comment :))

DVC Members have a website, for some people it works when they want to use it, for others it doesn't - so for those where it doesn't work at the time of need - I guess we just need to be more reasonable ...

Yes, I was being facetious. It breaks every time they do an update.

Yes and I may be repeating things but lost interest in the middle of the thread over the parking.....um...discussion...

However, when we bought DVC, they had the most awesome discount on annual passes that one year. It was right after we purchased and I really appreciated it. The next year it wasn't as good but still existed and I would really love a small discount on just weekly tickets.

There are perks and discounts but almost all of them require you to spend money to take advantage of them. 10% to 20% on the meals has been much appreciated by our large group since we no longer have a dining plan and I saved about $1,000 on my latest Hollywood Studios After Hours Special Event tickets just recently.

I use DVC discounts on scooter rentals, during covid I think our in park shopping discount went up to 30% the week I was there and when the moonlight magic events started the very first year, it was awesome. We were able to go to a party at AK, for free, ate tons of ice cream, sodas, drinks and some snacks, took pics with very rare characters, rode rides back to back and the park was literally empty for just DVC people. That was a really awesome perk but one that only rarely coincided with one of my trips.

I miss the other freebies they used to send us, decals (I got lucky and someone gave me one the other day), special pins, they had free photo booths at the community hall that the kids were able to basically take unlimited photos in.

I think more special events would be fun. A free party here and there at the Villians lounge, maybe some special DVC parade space. There are things they could do that wouldn't cost a ton. An extra LL per day in addition to the 7am slot that all onsite guests get.

They need to be creative to make us feel special again.

Maybe even a gift when we hit certain anniversaries.

I don't think you'd get these two just based on how they've operated in the past.

Once they started putting in parade viewing into FP+ selections I think that ship sailed. With Genie+ and ILL costing now even less likely. That cost is also why I think they wouldn't just give more LL just for DVC members. They did used to give 3 FPs under the FP+ program for doing a DVC tour but that was designed as an incentive to buy. Then they had where if you paid for club level you would get extra. These days they really have no capacity to actually do more than they already are. Many of us already agree they just have too many people using Genie+/ILL as is.

The other concern I would have with the parade viewing is that with FP+ they had a way to only give so many out. Imagine how upset a DVC member would be if they couldn't get space for that parade viewing? How would they account for it anyhow? At least with FP+ viewing you had to snag it.

I would have thought about special viewing but they sell those so not sure they business-wise would be smart to just give it away.

I do get what you're thinking about but these two things are heavy on the experiences of other guests and in a paid world that they have it now it probably would end up being so negative to the public on a day to day level. The special events already remove the option for EMH being available but I agree keeping them around is good to do.

I thought I read somewhere (probably on the internet, so it must be true  ) that Disney has a deal with Coca-Cola and gets it's soda for free (or at least very cheap). I would love to see a "free beverages" perk for DVC members. Of course, eligible members would have to first buy a cup, but then that cup could be refilled with coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc at ANY location (resort, park, water park) as long as the bearer flashes their member ID card. It would be a one-time purchase and good as long as it is accompanied by an ID card. It's not a huge perk, but for those who drink soda, it would certainly be a nice benefit. I stopped drinking soda in the parks, and I no longer buy a refillable mug for the resorts because I finally figured out that it is cheaper to order soda from Amazon. If I could buy a mug (even if it cost me $50), I would do it if I could refill it in the parks too.

I would have never even thought of that, but I would agree that it would be a small perk that might be useful. I would use it anyway.

It certainly would be nice but that is a lot of revenue that Disney food and beverage would be giving up. i would must love it if we could have he ability to activate own mug for a slight discount each trip instead of buying new each time.

we didnt buy dvc for perks but they are obviously nice. we did make more visits than normal when they offered those highly discounted dvc passes many years ago.
